About the role:

The Medical Affairs & Education Director will create, direct and lead the development and execution of novel and innovative physician education programs and skills training events on the safe and effective use of BSC technologies and therapies.  Develops clinical education strategies, and implements educational programs to support product education, data education, and therapy awareness for Health Care Providers (HCPs).  You will identify and engage HCPs and professional medical societies through collaborative partnerships to enhance educational initiatives, to advance the appropriate application of therapies that provide life enhancing outcomes, to expand the clinical data in support of our products and therapies, and to advise BSC on matters of strategic importance across the Peripheral Interventions (PI) Vascular division.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the team: recruit talent into the team, provides direction to staff, evaluates employee performance and provides regular feedback, coaches employees and engages in career development.

  • Lead employees in the achievement of organizational goals.  Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and drive those practices throughout their organization.

  • Develop and executes education strategies and activities supporting organizational objectives.

  • Oversee “Educare” initiatives in digital education.

  • Oversee the management and conduct of the Senior Medical Council.

  • Reorganize the Investigator-Sponsored Research (ISR) program to become “best in class” and oversee this program.

  • Oversee the Research and Education Grants Committee and related operations.

  • Identify and develop relevant partnerships with the key opinion leaders and professional vascular specialty societies through collaborative partnerships.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company policy and produces with particular attention to HCP Global Compliance guidance.

  • Leverage recourses, expertise and knowledge across projects and programs.

  • Direct and control the activities and budget of the functional area.

  • Strong collaborator across functions.

  • Advance the “voice” of the clinical functions to align with the Vascular business strategies.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required and 15+ years of related experience

  • 5+ years of clinical experience in PI

  • 8+ years of people/team leadership experience 

  • Minnesota-based – Maple Grove based leader

  • Critical Skillsets:

    • Strategic thinking and planning

    • Innovative thinking and approaches, and willingness to support appropriate risk taking by team members to advance key initiatives

    • Collaborative mindset

    • Team/people leadership, development, and management

    • Project management

    • Clinical, scientific and technical astuteness; very comfortable presenting and discussing clinical data with physicians 

    • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • RN, Masters or Doctorate in a clinical or scientific field

  • Proven ability to build credibility and rapport with physicians who are Key Opinion Leaders and/or clinical investigators 

  • Clinical acumen, with an interest in and ability to understand and communicate scientific data
