About the role:
Responsible for activities related to the control and monitoring of hazardous waste and facilities chemical usage, including pick-up, packing, and storage. Additionally, is responsible for the maintenance of related records and for contacting vendors for removal of waste from site in accordance with all internal and external compliance regulations. Ensures that the company meets, and complies, with all applicable chemical regulations at the Federal, State, and local levels.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Separates, packs, and labels hazardous waste and chemicals according to classification for storages in designated area and collects expired or used chemicals and delivers to the appropriate area for storage and disposal.
- Maintains appropriate documentation recording quantities, chemical composition, and date accumulated of hazardous materials and chemicals, and ensures that accurate information and labels are recorded in order to meet compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Contacts Hazardous Waste Disposal vendors to arrange for removal of chemical waste from company site, supervises them while on site, and participates in audits of vendors' chemical and solid waste recovery systems to assess the efficiency and cost effectiveness of their operations, their compliance with regulations, and to evaluate for potential business contracts with company.
- May be required to coordinate and deliver training on hazardous materials and chemicals handling, and process training records as appropriate.
- Supplies information regarding hazardous materials and chemicals to management and other employees as requested.
- Inspects site facilities to identify potential chemical hazards and conducts regular audits of hazardous materials and chemicals and communicates findings to appropriate personnel.
- May be required to maintain and up-date Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to ensure that current information is available at all times.
- Responds to inquiries from employees regarding chemical issues, and explains company and regulatory policies to ensure that employee concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
- Assists in preparation of policies and procedures documentation to be used by personnel engaged in chemical/hazardous waste handling and other chemically related activities.
- Assist with other EHS duties as required
- Will be required to get and maintain certifications as part of the job
