Diversity - Innovation - Caring - Global Collaboration - Winning Spirit - Caring - High Performance

At Boston Scientific, we’ll give you the opportunity to harness all that’s within you by working in teams of diverse and high-performing employees, tackling some of the most important health industry challenges. With access to the latest tools, information and training, we’ll help you in advancing your skills and career. Here, you’ll be supported in progressing – whatever your ambitions.

About this role:

This role will have technical leadership responsibilities for the development and implementation of analytical programs to improve the product performance and compliance of life saving and sustaining medical devices.

The successful candidate will be a project leader in the improvement of product performance analytics within the Peripheral Interventions (PI) business unit, while actively working within a network of data scientists across all Boston Scientific business units to ensure alignment and the best predictive methods are employed. The individual will be a key participant in the establishment and implementation of a Data Analytics Strategy within PI.

This role requires the knowledge to set up a logical workflow to identify the location of data in various databases and then to relate the data into a visualization and modeling-ready dataset. Boston Scientific’s data are located in both on-premises Enterprise Data Hub and in cloud locations that include Microsoft Azure and Amazon Redshift. On-premises data will eventually be completely migrated to cloud warehouses. A good understanding of general data architecture will help to learn the BSC schemas and data access permissions. The knowledge to identify required data entities, the skill to model them for visualization, and the skill to design a forecast model with BI tools along with Python and SQL are a must. The visuals and models are then published in security-controlled locations.

Boston Scientific uses several advance Business Intelligence (BI) tools that include Tableau and Microsoft Power BI as a part of analytics modernization. The role will primarily interact with Power BI using group. However, aptitude and previous experience with either platform is beneficial to acquire relatable technical skills with BSC applications and their connectivity. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel Power Query is a good substitute for Power BI as it is the shared data model engine in both applications.

Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills are required to have clarity of vision for a project and determination to realize useful outcomes through the use of Power BI, Power Platform (the Microsoft Analytics Ecosystem natively integrated to other O365 apps), data warehouse architecture, data permission structures, institutional metrics requirements, and the needs of data review audiences. Strong communication skills are applicable in leadership and cross-functional reviews at every stage of strategy development and implementation, and in the training of others to use BI tools at every stage of an analytics workflow.

Preferred location would be Maple Grove, MN

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop deep learning models to provide real-time predictions
  • Devise testing, maintenance, and monitoring strategies for integrating machine learning models deployed in production
  • Develop, maintain, document, and test internal software repositories to support scalable model development across several datasets, analytics platforms, and model types
  • Assesses manufacturing processes for automation and analytics opportunities
  • Interact with a variety of databases and data types, including image and non-image data
  • Prepare and present technical data and recommendations at technical reviews
  • Train and/or provide work direction to technicians, engineers, and manufacturing personnel when required as part of data generation, collection, and algorithm development efforts
  • Serve as a core team lead or extended team member on new development projects

What we’re looking for in you:

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS degree with 2 - 4 years of experience building and deploying advanced data analytics within a technical field OR MS or PhD with 0 - 2 Years experience within a technical field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or related field.
