About the role:

  • The Program Manager will have responsibility for leading the development of products in Boston Scientific’s Technology Development Process (TDP) or Product Development Process (PDP).  Responsibilities include development and execution of a program plan to deliver the defined solution business case, risk mitigation strategies, identification / resolution of staffing and resource requirements, and development and management of project deliverables. These responsibilities span from program initiation to global commercialization.
  • Initially this Program Manager will play an integral role in leading our NG WM FLX PDP.
  • The Project Manager will play an integral role in leading New Product Development projects within the WATCHMAN Franchise in the IC Division to deliver next generation devices to market.
  • The Project Manager will work directly with supporting functions across business units and manufacturing sites.  Cross-functional teams include, but are not limited to, Research & Development, Design Assurance, Packaging, Regulatory, Process Development, Operations, Supplier Engineering/Quality, Supply Chain and Clinical.
  • Responsibilities include development, execution and leadership of a project/program team to successfully deliver the defined product/solution to business unit management. 
  • Successfully doing so includes developing comprehensive project/program plans, identification and resolution of staffing and resource requirements and issues, and developing and managing the project deliverables
  • Scope of projects will vary and can include all product support activities from initial PDP kickoff, through product launch, and product end of life across WATCHMAN business and manufacturing sites. While all projects will support franchise imperatives, project size will vary from large commercial launches, both broad and very focused commercial initiatives, line extensions, and regional product approvals and launches.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Lead cross-functional teams (Research & Development, Design Assurance, Packaging, Regulatory, Process Development, Operations, Supplier Engineering/Quality, Supply Chain, Clinical, Marketing) across business units and manufacturing sites and manage multiple projects from small to large scope, including schedule, scope, costs and resources.
  • Develops and implements overall project plan, including cost, schedule, risk and performance and monitors progress against business key objectives and goals.
  • Identify and prioritize resource needs for assigned projects and activities with supporting cross-functions.
  • Identify, communicate and manage technical challenges and business risks.
  • Drive and influence results by acting with speed, agility and adaptability, assigning clear authority and accountability while integrating and aligning efforts across multiple sites and functions.
  • Provide structured thinking to project team on overall execution strategy and approach.
  • Directs and trains key project management processes.
  • Leads the team in appropriate decision making through strong judgment and the ability to analyze options and implications.
  • Investigate and develop approach/solution to address technical problems with project teams.
  • Provide timely communication on project progress to all relevant cross-functional stakeholders, and across all levels of the organization, including senior leadership. 

 

  • People Management: Manages large (often multi-project, multi-site) cross-functional development teams; leads teams and helps diverse and dispersed project team members to execute towards overall project goal(s); provides input to functional managers on team and team member performance; develops and maintains strong relationships with functional heads.
  • Product/Technology Management: Manages the technical challenges of technology application and new product development; identifies, communicates, and manages moderate to high levels of technical risk.
  • Project/Program Management: Manages key initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing processes; develops and implements project plan; builds team ownership and commitment to project plan; mentors and/or coaches other functional and project managers; manages project risks.
  • Process Management: Implements TDP/PDP; leads team to complete activities to current policies and practices; Actively reviews policy and practice improvements to drive functional excellence, creates Scaling Plan and Design History File for the project, influences cross-functional systems effectiveness and identifies process improvements affecting multiple projects. PLCP lifecycle knowledge to deliver and maintain high quality and high impact deliverables.
  • Communications and Reviews: Responsible for team and cross-functional communications; liaison between the team and the Business Planning Team/Franchise Leadership Team (BPT/FLT); leads phase and business reviews, project meeting minutes, issues log, metrics, and other key communications.  Communicates and influences resolution of cross-functional issues.

What we’re looking for:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering or Project Management.
  • 5+ years of project management experience.
  • Small and large cross-functional project team lead experience.
  • Must be willing and able to travel internationally ~10% of the time.
  • Works under minimal supervision.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP certification.
  • PLCP lifecycle knowledge.
  • Previous new product development experience in the medical device industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work together with a cross-functional, multi-site sites.
  • Strong organization, execution and communication skills.
  • Candidate to be comfortable in front of all levels of the organization as well as external customers.
  • Candidate to have strong leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships within project teams. 
  • Problem solving technical expertise.
