About the role:

Provides management support campus wide for laboratory space . Responsible for the development and execution of the facility lab space strategy on campus, including the management of the design/construction/planning/utilization, business continuity plans, mergers and acquisition integration, capital spending, expenses, key metrics, and dedicated to providing facilities support that adhere to our global standards and are cost-effective, safe, and valued by our internal Business Units and employees.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate current capacity in each lab space through data analysis and communication with appropriate departments and build reports that accurately project future space requirements.
  • Act as key contact to PD, NPD and R&D to evaluate space asks, develop plan options and pricing packages
  • Support and provide input to the Site Master Plan (SMP) in support of Global Facilities Master Plan (GFMP) process
  • Responsible for lab space of Site Master Plan (SMP). Develops and executes associated facilities projects (acquisitions, dispositions, renovations, optimizations etc.) in support of the Global Facilities Master Plan (GFMP) and in partnership with Site and Business Unit leaders, PD & R&D.
  • Administers operational expenses and capital budgets for assigned Lab space in alignment with GFMP and site objectives. Utilizes Business Essentials to improve facility operating costs, energy conservation, waste reduction, and the quality of facility operations for lab space. Perform Design Review, Value Engineering, and Construction Management for projects as necessary.
  • Implements Facility Engineering and Global Design Guidelines for the construction of new facilities and renovation of existing facilities, utilizing best practices leveraged across BSC, Medical Device & Pharmaceutical Industry Peers, and authorities having jurisdiction. Serves as liaison between the company and local municipalities and agencies related to facilities activities.
  • Team with Facilities Engineers and Technicians for the support and management of utility systems (process gasses, HVAC, electricity)
  • Hosting and managing lab optimizations/cleanouts on a regular basis
  • Responsible for the Global Workplace Strategy including development of strategic space initiatives ensuring customer satisfaction and best utilization of space for BSC global real estate portfolio.
  • Responsible for ensuring the BSC Global Design Guidelines is relevant to meet current work practices by analyzing trends and metrics, instructing research and reviewing effective solutions for BSC workplace environments; considering design, wellness, sustainability, new ways of working and attracting and retaining talent.
  • Provides support and direction for all lab related facilities procurement activities including partnering with Global/local sourcing to ensure furniture, supplies, equipment and services are purchased at the most competitive market price. Support Global Agreements for facilities lab infrastructure (selection, and evaluation of equipment).
  • Develops departmental budgets and controls spending accordingly.
  • Partners with and influences other functions to ensure common short and long-term business goals and strategies.
  • Develops and coaches staff to achieve results and support employee engagement.
  • Understands and proactively follows through on the Quality, Safety and Environmental Management Procedures that have been identified as relevant to position and ensures staff does the same.
  • Understands and complies with all the regulations governing the Quality, Safety and Environmental management systems and ensures staff does the same
  • Ordering and receiving any required facility related materials in support of lab space

What we are looking for:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree
  • 8+ years of experience in Facilities Project Management
  • Experience in construction management
  • Excellent communication skills, able to build relationships & influence
  • Experience in leading people through change

Preferred Qualifications

  • CAD knowledge
