About the role:

Within this role, an experienced scientist will work on a wide variety of polymer characterization projects that touch nearly every business unit in BSC.

 

Job responsibilities:

  • Participate in planning project support testing related to BSC project assessments of vendor, material, or shelf life changes

  • Participate in and lead materials characterization investigations related to medical device challenges

  • Perform testing using a multitude of polymer material characterization test methods, including thermogravimetric analysis, rheological testing, mechanical testing, and dynamic scanning calorimetry, among others, on a variety of BSC polymer resins, components, and finished goods.

  • Analyze, interpret, and summarize data from multiple characterization test methods to make recommendations to internal customers regarding proposed activities for project teams

  • Communicate with internal customers through meetings, emails, and data summaries

  • Peer review data and reports from other analysts

  • Seek innovative solutions to better serve BSC customers in the realm of materials characterization

 

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in materials science, physical sciences, or engineering, masters’ degree preferred

  • Experience in medical device engineering

  • 5+ years’ experience with polymer material characterization

  • 5+ years’ experience with GLP/GMP laboratory environments
