About the Role


Oversee the Manufacturing Planning Department, setting strategy/objectives and determining direction for three planning functions.   Hire, train and develop Planning personnel.  This position reports to the Director of Materials in Maple Grove Operations.




  • Planning Responsibilities:  Deliver an accurate production plan to operations, monthly.   Monitor execution to the plan.   Facilitate and/or provide oversight for the commercial and non-commercial monthly Committed Build Plan (CBP) process and associated handshake meetings and weekly schedule adherence meetings.  Ensure Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly activities occur per process; EE&O Analysis; New Product Planning Support; Sister site manufacturing planning coordination; Internal/External Benchmarking for best practices.
  • Oversite for all plant volume reviews associated with capacity planning and financial projections (F1, F2, F3, AOP, Strat plan).
  • Liaison between operations and GSC, NPD, Sister sites.
  • Systems: possess strong working knowledge of computer systems/programs (i.e. SAP, Rapid Response, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint); establish, document, and maintain Manufacturing Planning policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GMP and ISO requirements; review and approve change requests that are applicable to the Planning function; constantly work toward streamlining Planning Processes to eliminate non-value added activities.
  • Budget: budget and control department annual operating expenses.
  • Staff Development: develop staff through coaching, mentoring and recruiting; provide development and growth opportunities, foster and recognize continuous improvement initiatives; responsible for the motivation and development of employees to optimize their personal and professional growth; demonstrate leadership, set continuous improvement goals and department objectives, review performance regularly and deliver salary and performance reviews, always rewarding performance; create an environment of positive reinforcement, creativity and teamwork; actively work to implement cutting edge technology and to increase technical expertise in Planning; assure the Planning department stays informed of latest company and market news affecting the company.
  • Inventory Management:  Lead the development and execution of the inventory planning for WIP, Subs and external manufacturing (Hemoteq, Flex Medical).   Ensure validation of offline tools used to manage planning/manufacturing priorities; manage transitions of product families to more complete use of SAP/RR in the planning processes; set direction and drive improvements to better enable Planners to meet inventory objectives.




  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required
  • Minimum of 5+ years professional experience in a manufacturing planning / operations function required
  • People Management experience required
  • Progressive knowledge and experience in:
    • Utilizing manufacturing planning software (i.e. SAP)
    • Materials management tools: DRP, MPS, MRP, APO
  • Understand Manufacturing concepts: world class manufacturing, manufacturing standardization and simplification, Lean, etc.
  • Understand Quality Requirements: ISO and CGMP
  • Possess Strong verbal communication skills, is detail oriented, & possesses exemplary organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and systems skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly adaptable to accept new ideas, people, processes, and procedures
