About the role:
The Senior Director of Clinical Development, Interventional Oncology (IO) is responsible for defining and executing global clinical strategies in support of new IO product therapies.  This role will lead the IO clinical development teams in creating and executing clinical trial plans to study technology outcomes. This role will serve as the link between clinical research and the scientific and engineering teams, innovating and adapting technologies and approaches to move forward quickly and identify breakthrough cancer therapies for our pipeline. This leadership position requires the highest level of expertise in strategic thinking, collaboration, talent selection and development, operations management, problem solving, and decision making.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Establishes the IO strategy for clinical leaders to direct the teams in the design, planning, execution and management of clinical trials and evidence-generating programs worldwide, within the approved budget and timeline and in accordance with company policies and procedures and the applicable regulatory requirements
  • Advises and contributes to the development of global business strategy through participation in the IO Team
  • Facilitates strategic alignment within the organization to achieve strategic and tactical business objectives
  • Collaborates and builds partnerships cross functionally through business units and geographies to achieve organizational objectives, capitalize on operational synergies to improve efficiency and compliance, and incorporate innovative and creative approaches to the generation of clinical evidence
  • Hires, coaches and develops organizational talent to build and enhance the technical, strategic and leadership capabilities of the function
  • Presents study progress, data, outcomes and risks to the NTA Board
  • Provides leadership guidance, direction, and oversight to strategic Contract Resource Organization (CRO) partnerships
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and the applicable regulatory requirements
  • Directs and controls the activities and budget of one or more projects, programs and/or functional operations

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of oncology-related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Experience designing, planning and managing oncology clinical trials/research studies
  • Project/trial management experience 
  • Financial acumen and budget management 
  • Experience with CROs, other clinical vendors, and outsourced operations
  • Ability to leverage knowledge and apply new ways of looking at problems, processes, or solutions to generate and champion new ideas, approaches, and initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Maintain a strategic perspective, and make decisions and align activities with business vision and purpose
    • Effectively collaborate and influence a broad range of global stakeholders
    • Respond flexibly and positively under conditions of uncertainty or change
    • Lead courageously by confronting problems directly and taking decisive action
    • Assess, coach, and develop organizational talent, and foster a diverse workplace that enables all team members to contribute to their full potential


Preferred Qualifications:

  • First in Human (FIH), early feasibility or Phase 2-4 and solid tumor experience
