About the Role:

Industrial Engineers are integral to Boston Scientific’s continuous improvement strategy. The Industrial Engineering department works cross-functionally across the Spencer site to focus on value-add activities by eliminating waste and improving the flow of product, material and information during production processes, new product development phases and business processes. In this role, you would support the advancement of lean by implementing innovative and sustainable solutions that eliminate waste and optimize value for our customers.


Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Someone in this role would require some mentorship throughout project work to ensure consistent understanding and application of Lean on our manufacturing lines, in business processes, and in the product development cycle. 
  • Responsible for supporting the development and implementation of projects intended to help us achieve our year-over-year metric improvements in the following categories: Safety, Ergonomics, Labor Efficiency, WIP, Cycle Time, and Floor Space.
  • Responsible for understanding, leveraging, sustaining, and improving the following Lean principles, tools and systems; Work Content Graph (line balancing), Standard Work, Standard WIP, Visual Staffing Plan, Variation Tracking, Equipment Capacity, 5S, 8 Wastes, Continuous Improvement System and Kaizen.
  • Responsible for collecting and analyzing data to guide decision making.
  • Responsible for identifying and capturing the value of projects in our Value Improvement Process (VIP).
  • Responsible for mentoring and coaching others regarding concepts relevant to Industrial Engineering and Lean. Effectively facilitates Lean training.
  • Responsible for leading large-scale projects potentially impacting multiple groups at Spencer. Manages the project using the DMAIC roadmap or PDCA.
  • Leads Project scoping & Feasibility studies.  Execute Continuous-Improvement cross-functional-projects to support Plant.
  • Problem Solving Techniques - Lead complex Problem Solving & process improvement Road Maps for area and/or site
  • Plans capacity & capability.  Manage layouts. Incorporate ergonomic & safety guidelines.  Align area layout plans to site space planning strategy. Execute successfully.
  • Builds relationships: Establishes and maintains strong relationships internally and externally.  Earns the respect of others through effective interpersonal skills, integrity, compassion, and authenticity.
  • Innovations: Leverages knowledge and best practices, fresh perspectives, breakthrough ideas, and CI to advance area and site metric


What We’re Looking for In You:


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Engineering degree required
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Lean
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Ability to solve large scale complex problems through robust data analysis 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with large scale (5,000 Sq Ft production line moves or equipment transfers)
  • Six Sigma Certification
  • Project Management Certification
