Supplier Engineer II – Sustaining



About the Role:

 

At Boston Scientific the Supplier Engineer II is a key member Materials Sourcing leading/supporting key projects on Service, Cost and Quality on sourced components and supplier manufacturing processes. Acts as liaison between suppliers and BSC production units and Division, to execute supplier/BSC initiated changes, as well as resolving technical problems.

 




Your Responsibilities Include:
 

 

  • As a technical lead, actively engages in Global Sourcing category teams, establishes, and executes Global Sourcing category objectives
  • Proactively conducts risk assessment on sourced materials, builds installed capacity and capability at suppliers. Plans and executes service risk mitigation measures to ensure continuity of component sourcing to BSC manufacturing
  • Actively engages with suppliers, and executes process validation and test method validation
  • Partners with manufacturing, quality, and/or Sustaining R&D/DA/PM to execute changes initiated by BSC or by the Suppliers, such as improvement projects, supplier capability and capacity projects, compliance projects
  • In every situation, actively recognizes material cost reduction opportunities. Identifies and executes material cost reduction projects (MVIP) to meet Plant, Division and Category goals.
  • As a technical lead, partners with SQE to support investigation of supplied material non-conformances
  • Assists in troubleshooting processes on-site at supplier facility
  • Works with R&D to research, develop, and evaluate component design requirements and incorporates them into supplier process output.




What We’re Looking For:


 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • B.S. in Engineering (or Science)
  • 2-5 years of engineering experience



 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Knowledge of BSC products and processes  
  • Experience with material controls and suppliers 
  • Familiar with problem solving methodologies and tools
  • Experience with test method validation, product/process changes/validation
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in timely manner with high attention to detail
  • Self-driven and self-motivated to learn and apply knowledge
