Manufacturing Engineer II
 

About the role:
A Manufacturing Engineer leads initiatives for the daily support of products, processes, and equipment and may be responsible for leading the integration of new products within production, meeting new product integration timelines and production goals (i.e., safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity). This individual will be required to routinely partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate, troubleshoot and implement manufacturing processes within the business unit.

 


This position will support Maple Grove Manufacturing.


 
Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Works cooperatively with R&D, Process Development, Quality, Production, Regulatory, Equipment Engineering, Supply Chain, and Marketing to ensure project success.
  • Successfully contributes to both new product development teams and product support, including the following activities: process capability studies, process development, Six Sigma and Value Improvement projects, report preparation and process/test documentation.
  • Designs and coordinates standard engineering tests and experiments.
  • Designs, procures, and fabricates equipment tooling and fixtures.
  • Characterizes the physical and material properties of the components, and optimizes these properties against device performance requirements
  • Performs troubleshooting on new and existing products/process problems as related to design, material, or processes.
  • Summarizes, analyzes, and draws conclusions from test results.
  • Completes and manages Capital Equipment Request Authorizations (CERA’s).
  • Prepares standard reports/documents to communicate results to the technical community.
  • May lead cross-functional project teams.
  • Identifies, implements, and manages equipment requirements to support production goals.

 

What We're Looking For:

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering discipline (preferably Mechanical, Biomedical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering)
  • 2-4 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably medical device industry)
  • Engages in day-to-day operations and is driven by a natural curiosity to solve problems.
  • Develops creative solutions individually and collaboratively draws ideas from cross functional teams.  Advocates for his or her ideas with passion while listening to and considering the ideas of the team.
  • Is a positive agent for change, not bound by the way things are or have always been done.
  • Takes initiative to identify improvement opportunities, prioritize them, communicate them to the appropriate levels and sees them through to completion.
  • Is resilient in the face of setbacks.  Plans appropriately for risks and responds positively to unforeseen problems.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the medical device industry
  • A practical understanding of manufacturing problem solving and process interrogation tools such as SIX-SIGMA, and production flow tools such as LEAN manufacturing.
