PI R&D Internship

About the role:

Our R&D engineers are tasked with designing and developing innovative, breakthrough next-generation medical devices that improve and extend the lives of patients around the world.  The Peripheral Interventions (PI) unit leads in minimally invasive therapies for peripheral artery disease, venous disease, and vessel trauma. Growth of the division is driven by the aging population, under-diagnosed and under-treated patient populations, heterogeneity of disease and unmet clinical need. PI is able to provide a number of solutions to patients that include: Drug-Eluting & Bare-Metal Stents,

Thrombectomy, Catheters, Balloons & Drug-Eluting Balloons, and Atherectomy.

 

Your responsibilities will include:  

  • Supports workstreams and project engineers within a project
  • Contributes to the design and coordination of engineering tests and experiments
  • Summarizes, analyzes and draws conclusions from test results
  • Responsible for engineering documentation

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Must graduate between December 2026 and May 2027
  • Must have at least one semester of school left post-internship
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, or Physics majors with a focus in engineering.
  • Must be able to commit to one of the following full internship program periods: May 18th – August 7th OR May 26th – August 14th
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the Maple Grove, MN Boston Scientific Corporate location
  • Coursework or experience with design-related projects 
  • Baseline understanding of material properties relative to mechanical performance and/or fluid mechanics

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Biomedical or anatomy understanding of peripheral vasculature
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Understanding of basic statistics

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com—will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
