About the role :
The Principal Statistical Programmer provides statistical programming expertise and support in analyzing data from a large real-world data source from electronic health records, with a strong background in healthcare data informatics and analysis, in support of the Cardiology division.
This position offers an opportunity to expand your knowledge and skill sets in a collaborative environment that encourages showcasing your talent and progression into areas of advanced statistical programming and interactions with various internal and external stakeholders to support business objectives.
This is a hybrid position (in office minimum three days per week) with the flexibility to be in Arden Hills or Maple Grove, MN or Marlborough, MA. You will have the opportunity to discuss your preferred working location with your Talent Acquisition Specialist.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leverages technical skillsets to define patient cohorts from large real-world data source(s) to perform both outcomes and statistical analysis.
- Uses technical expertise to receive incoming customer requests and produce custom analyses.
- Scopes requirements for research projects, asks questions to clarify objectives, methods, and details, conducts custom analyses in R on electronic health record (EHR) data, produces results outputs (tables and figures).
- Collaborates with internal or external team members (e.g., Statisticians, Medical Writers, Medical Directors, and Physicians), to lead the activities for data extraction, integration, and analysis required for evidence generation, strategies, regulatory submissions, and data publications.
- Leverages knowledge of statistics, regression, propensity score matching, Kaplan-Meier and other survival analyses to support project objectives.
- Prepares statistical report templates, data specifications, and analysis datasets (ADS). Develops programs for statistical analyses, generates statistical reports (tables and figures) for internal and external projects and maintains programming documentation as appropriate.
- Performs quality control and validation according to departmental processes and procedures. Ensures analysis is performed in accordance with applicable statistical methods and in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Works with cross-functional team members to develop study design and analysis plan as needed. Leads studies and applies functional expertise, such as review of Statistical Analysis Plans, Study Protocols, and other relevant study plans and timelines.
Required qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related
- Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience with 3+ years of experience analyzing Electronic Health Record data or other real-world healthcare claims data sources.
- Advanced skills using SQL and R, including familiarity with data modeling to conduct data analyses.
- Experience of SAS® programming, including Macro programming, ODS/RTF, ODS/GRAPH, SAS/Stats Procedures.
- Ability to interact and communicate with people effectively and to explain results clearly as well as strong experience working with a global team.
Preferred qualifications:
- Advance degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience analyzing Electronic Health Record data or other real-world healthcare claims data sources.
- Experience with sample size calculation and simulations.
- Experience with survival analysis.
- Ability to effectively explain statistical methods and interpret results.
- Familiar with other statistical programming package or software, SAS® programming language and common statistical methods/tests. Proficient in SAS® Macro programming, ODS/RTF, ODS/GRAPH.
- Extensive working experience using various SAS/Stats Procedures (e.g., Logistic, GLM, Phreg, and Lifetest).
- Experience of Common Data Model (CDM) or related data model and database structures.
- Experience with data mining or data science related to clinical evidence.
