About the role: Boston Scientific has an exciting position available in our medical device lubricious coatings and characterization space. This position will be lab based and include scale-up activities through product launches. The position will specialize in technologies such as hydrophilic, hydrophobic, hydrogel and silicone coatings for device performance improvements. Key activities include surface treatments, coating adhesion testing, chemical and material characterization, and failure mode analysis
Your responsibilities include:
- Working on product and process development to lead the design and commercialization of new medical devices
- Solving complex technical problems in a hands-on manner, working in a fast-paced environment
- Providing strong leadership and problem solving to enable medical device innovation.
- Collaborating & partnering with R&D to develop product concepts, influence design specifications and provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input to the engineering print package.
- Works cross functionally to lead, own, develop, & deliver capable and robust processes and equipment to operations.
- Develops experimental strategy and presents technical data and recommendations at technical reviews.
- Develop, write, & review process validation strategy and related deliverables to meet quality system requirements. (e.g., Experiment tech reports, GR&R, TMV, IQ, FMEA’s, etc.)
- Contributes ideas to or generates Intellectual Property submissions.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or relevant technical field
Preferred Qualifications
- Chemical engineering or MatSci background
- Previous medical device experience
- Previous liquid coating and curing experience
- Demonstrated understanding and usage of statistics to drive improvements.
- Demonstrated understanding of problem solving and root cause investigations.
- Experience with Process Verification and Validation.
- Medical device or other regulated industry experience.
- Excels in a collaborative, cross-site environment.
- Expertise in Operations or New Product Development.
- Demonstrated cross functional teamwork in technical environment.
- Open to travel of up to 10% of their time.
