About the Role: Boston Scientific has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Supervisor with the Process Development Peripheral Interventions team at our Maple Grove facility. Our team is dedicated to serving Boston Scientific’s New Product Development efforts as a team that delivers high-quality, scalable, and cost-competitive manufacturing processes. We directly support Boston Scientific’s mission to bring new, life-changing medical solutions to patients around the world. The person in this role will work in a variety of capacities, from ensuring functional excellence on project teams, to coaching and mentoring engineers, to development of new process technology to support new products. The role will focus on leading in partnership with our R&D and Manufacturing functional groups. You’ll develop and implement new technology that will enable unique design solutions as well as improve manufacturing robustness, efficiency, and quality. We are looking for a motivated, self-driven, and technically adept individual that can drive execution in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises, leads, and provides technical direction to a group of technicians and/or entry-level engineers. Devotes a portion of time contributing to the project responsibilities of the department.
- Assists manager in providing guidance and training to staff, developing subordinates to attain career goals, motivating individuals to achieve results, and recruiting and maintaining a high quality staff.
- Assists manager to plan resource needs and hiring for department.
- Leads engineering teams to the successful completion of PD project goals.
- Works with manager to ensure execution of the functional deliverables associated with the PDP/TDP, Project Management, and Quality Systems.
- Prioritizes and manages execution of multiple projects.
- Maintains and enhances cross-functional team relationships.
- Ensures policies and processes are followed.
- May serve as core team member on new product development teams.
- Establish and cultivate a wide range of business relationships to facilitate completion of initiatives.
- Interact with other internal and external personnel in significant matters requiring coordination between organizations.
- May train and/or provide work direction to engineers, technicians, and manufacturing personnel.
- Champion functional best practices and new technology initiatives.
- Establishes and promotes an inclusive work environment that supports the Quality Policy and Quality System.
- Onsite work mode primarily with hybrid flexibility. May travel up to 10%.
Required Qualifications:
- BS degree in Engineering or relevant technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a supervisor
- Functional understanding of DFM, medical device design control, regulated quality systems, and the product development process is highly desired.
- Medical Device New Product Development experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing new manufacturing processes.
- Strong mechanical acumen and/or materials background (e.g., mechanical engineering, material science).
- Demonstrated ability to deliver project responsibilities, both self-driven and collaboratively.
- Willingness to work cross-functionally and with other BSC sites.
- Ability to work well within a strong team environment.
- Strong statistical analysis/DOE foundation
