Job Description:

 

We are looking for a talented R&D Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and integration of advanced medical devices for peripheral interventions. This role involves working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure product designs meet the highest quality and regulatory standards. The role will also be responsible for clinical engineering, supporting successful product launches, developing marketing claims, and supporting medical education for new product releases.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Clinical Engineering: Advance Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) technology by engaging with key physician collaborators.  Understand the clinical use of the product.  Provide technical support for clinical education and clinical research teams. Support marketing and sales during launch regarding new technology adoption, challenging applications, and troubleshooting.  In all actions, demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality.
  • Design and Development: Participate in the design and development of medical devices, conducting feasibility studies, developing prototypes, and performing testing and validation.
  • Product Launch Support: Assist in the planning and execution of product launches, ensuring all technical aspects are addressed and successfully implemented.
  • Marketing Claims: Develop and substantiate marketing claims for new products, ensuring they are scientifically accurate and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Medical Education: Support medical education initiatives by providing technical expertise and developing training materials for healthcare professionals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, manufacturing, regulatory affairs, and marketing, to ensure successful product development and integration.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and review engineering documentation, including technical reports, design history files, and regulatory submissions. Present project updates and technical insights to stakeholders.

Minimum required qualifications:

 

  • BS or above in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree or 1+ year with a master’s degree.
  • 1+ years of clinical engineering
  • Strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, collaborative mindset, effective communication skills, and experience in clinical engineering.
  • Experience with hypothesis-driven experimental design and statistical analysis skills.
  • Hands-on experience with MedTech device product development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Self-motivation and curiosity with a passion for solving problems.
  • Experience with medical device design and/or processes.
  • Test method development experience.
  • Class II or Class III Medical Device product development experience.
  • Familiarity with Boston Scientific quality systems or similar industry standards.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
