R&D Product Assurance Lab Supervisor

 

About the role:

Supervises all Laboratory functions including research and purchase required laboratory equipment to serve all R&D Laboratory requirements.  Regularly maintains the lab to ensure it is in good working environment.  Takes charge of ordering parts and equipment to support engineers in the R&D organization.  Monitors daily operations of the lab and actively assists, or provides direction to, subordinates as required. May perform, especially in staff or professional groups, ongoing operational tasks of organizational units.  Ensures that projects are completed on schedule following established procedures and schedules. Erroneous decisions or recommendations or failure to achieve results might cause delays in program schedules and result in the allocation of more resources.  Majority of liaison is on internal basis with subordinates and supervisors at equivalent level or one level higher.  Liaison normally involves specific phases of a project or operation.  External contacts are infrequent and involve routine matters.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage day-to-day lab activities.
  • Supervise team of multi-functional, experienced R&D technicians.
  • Coordinate project work requests with coordinators and project teams.
  • Hold planning/coordination meetings with staff as needed.
  • Develop and cross-train technician staff.
  • Point person for initial project screening and work requests.
  • Prioritize and balance department workload based on project priorities and resource availability.
  • Ensure safe working environment within the labs.
  • Assist creation of resource and capital plans for the department.
  • Maintain and enhance cross-functional department relationships with R&D Design, Process Development, and Manufacturing groups.
  • Ensure compliance in the areas of time reporting, documentation.
  • Provide regular updates to management; host tours and demonstrations.

What we’re looking for in you:

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of related R&D Laboratory experience (or 2-3 years of related R&D Laboratory experience with a bachelor’s degree)
  • Experience in Medical Device /Regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent numerical skills and analytical ability in order to make fast and effective decisions

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
