About the role:
This role provides strategic leadership and oversight for the site Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Management System. The position ensures regulatory compliance, protects employees and the environment, reduces operational risk, maintains ISO certifications, and drives a strong and sustainable EH&S culture in support of site growth and expansion.

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our Arbor Lakes facility at least three days per week. Your responsibilities will include:
● Lead the development and execution of site EH&S strategies, policies, and programs aligned with business growth and expansion.
● Foster a strong safety culture through effective communication, coaching, and training.
● Present EH&S performance metrics, risks, and improvement plans during management reviews.
● Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure alignment and execution of EH&S initiatives.
● Lead the Occupational Health team, ensuring work-related injuries and claims are effectively managed to resolution.
● Manage departmental budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocation.
● Serve in a leadership role during emergency response and crisis management situations.
● Lead implementation, audit readiness, and sustainment of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
● Ensure conformance with global Boston Scientific EH&S standards.
● Oversee internal compliance audits and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
● Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local EH&S regulations.
● Monitor regulatory changes and proactively update programs and procedures.
● Manage required regulatory reporting and agency interactions, including hazardous waste, air permitting, and water programs.
● Track, analyze, and report key performance indicators, including TRIR, severity rates, and leading indicators.
● Conduct and oversee risk assessments and implement hazard-reduction initiatives.
● Lead incident investigations and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
● Lead professional staff and/or managers, with accountability for team performance, budgets, and departmental resources.
● Operate with significant autonomy while addressing complex operational and compliance challenges.
● Develop, interpret, and implement EH&S policies and lead cross-functional initiatives.
● Drive decisions that impact EH&S strategy, regulatory compliance, risk management, and site operations.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
● Minimum of 10 years' experience in progressively responsible EH&S roles within laboratory, R&D, or operations environments.
● Minimum of 5 years' experience leading and developing teams.
● Expert knowledge of Minnesota EH&S regulations.
● Demonstrated experience driving change to improve EH&S performance and outcomes.
● Strong communication and influencing skills within a matrixed organization.
● Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments.
● Proven ability to manage shifting priorities and exercise sound judgment.
Preferred qualifications:
● Master’s degree in safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
● Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar professional credentials.
● Construction safety experience.
