About the role

To provide Health Economics and Market Access (HEMA) expertise and leadership in the development and implementation of health economics and market access (HEMA) activities across all divisions of Boston Scientific. Key areas of focus include payer policy related to franchise / team technologies, addressing economic concerns on the part of providers and/or payers, and supporting market access activities for new technologies or new or emerging sites of service through strong HEMA strategies, tactics, and tools.


Your responsibilities will include:

•             Management of and leadership in the development and implementation of market access and health economics activities for BSC franchises or marketing teams (i.e., Corporate Accounts Marketing) working with divisional and team staff and key internal and external stakeholders.

•             Actively participate in development and execution of practical strategies to secure optimal market access for BSC products and procedures at the individual facility (i.e., physician office / lab / Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)) and integrated delivery network (IDN) levels.

•             Lead implementation of tactical planning activities required to achieve health economics and market access strategic objectives (e.g., preparation of economic and market access dossiers and billing guides for customers).

•             Identify key health economics and market access tool needs for BSC platform products, working with HEMA and other colleagues to determine actions required.

•             Collaborate with divisional HEMA counterparts on the optimal approach for new products and divisional priorities to advance therapies for our largest customers.

•             Assess market access opportunities and challenges facing the division or team’s emerging technologies and commercially marketed products.

•             Work with new product development teams when appropriate to ensure health economics and market access needs are incorporated into product development plans and timelines; ensure all necessary new product development deliverables are completed on time and on budget.

•             Manage development and implementation of market access tools and the provision of market access support to sales force and key external stakeholders (e.g., hospitals, clinicians, investigator sites, professional societies) as appropriate.

•             Manage provision of appropriate in-service training to sales, marketing, clinical, regulatory, and legal to increase awareness and understanding of health economics and market access competencies and their role in supporting a product’s success.

•             Monitor policy developments that impact the market access of BSC products.

•             Support development of direct reports, if any.


What we’re looking for:


•             5 - 7 years of HEMA experience in either medical device or pharmaceutical industry.

•             Experience working with both internal and external stakeholders at the highest professional level (i.e., C-suite).

•             Capable of assessing data needs and working with data teams to secure appropriate information and leverage it in a meaningful way through HEMA strategies and tools.

•             Demonstrated experience working across teams and/or functions to accomplish objectives.

•             Multi-channel customer experience (Hospitals, ASC’s, OBL’s).


•             At a minimum, bachelor’s degree or equivalent strongly preferred. An advanced degree such as an MBA, MPH, MHA, MS, or MSc in health policy, health economics, healthcare administration, health services research, public health, or similar discipline is desirable.

•             Experience and/or strong understanding of reimbursement mechanisms across all sites of service, including physician office or office-based lab (OBL), inpatient and outpatient hospital, and ambulatory surgery center (ASC).
