About the role:
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will lead continuous improvement initiatives, new product integration projects, and will provide daily support to the production floor to ensure that product, processes, material, and equipment meet the (Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost) business goals and objectives. He/she/they will routinely partner with cross-functional and cross-site teams (Production, Quality, Regulatory, R&D, Process Development, Supply Chain, etc.) to evaluate, troubleshoot and implement manufacturing processes within the business unit.
Work model & sponsorship:
This role is on-site at our Maple Grove, Minnesota location, requiring employees to work from the office full time. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leads cross-functional project teams: Coordinates, manages, communicates, and documents project goals and progress.
- Able to plan appropriately for project risks and respond positively to unforeseen problems.
- Supports technicians during troubleshooting activities when complex technical issues arise on the production floor.
- Identify, analyzes, and proposes process and product improvements, making use of continuous improvement tools.
- Assesses the feasibility of new technologies, products, and equipment in the area.
- Designs and coordinates applicable engineering tests and experiments.
- Summarizes, analyzes, and draws conclusions from complex test results.
- Designs and prepares engineering reports and communicates results to the technical and leadership audiences.
- Work with vendors/suppliers on technical design, procurement, and fabrication of materials, equipment, fixturing, etc.
- Completes and manages Capital Equipment Request Authorizations (CERA’s)
- Train team members, including engineers, technicians, and product builders on specific tasks. Participates in the development of junior staff by providing guidance and offering counsel.
- In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably Manufacturing, Electrical, Materials Science, Mechanical, or Biomedical)
- 5+ years of engineering experience
- Proven experience solving advanced technical problems
- Experience managing and leading projects
- Proven understanding of engineering and problem-solving principles, as well as data analysis and production flow tools (i.e. LEAN manufacturing)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to develop and present ideas via visual communication methods utilizing data
Preferred qualifications:
- Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- New Product Integration experience
- Experience in the medical device or similarly regulated industry
- Experience with troubleshooting, analysis, and repair of equipment
- Experience with validation and qualification of equipment
- Experience with test method and process validation
- Strong understanding of quality systems and experience working on acceptance activities or inspections
