The Quality Engineering Supervisor oversees engineering and/or technician activities that directly support production operations within the Manufacturing, Packaging and Chemistries business unit. This role develops, establishes and maintains quality methodologies, systems and practices that meet Boston Scientific, customer and regulatory requirements. The supervisor identifies, coordinates and assigns project priorities aligned with business and department objectives while ensuring the implementation of assurances, process controls and CAPA systems designed to meet or exceed internal and external requirements.
Work model, sponsorship, relocation:
This role is on-site and requires employees to work from the designated Boston Scientific facility. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide leadership for departmental and cross-functional initiatives, offering direction, coaching and mentoring to engineering and technical team members.
- Establish daily work priorities and sequencing of activities in alignment with management direction and business objectives.
- Proactively investigate, identify and implement best-in-class quality practices.
- Mentor team members in identifying and resolving quality issues using Six Sigma, lean, mistake-proofing and related tools and techniques.
- Identify and implement effective systems and process controls supporting the development, qualification, testing, measurement and ongoing manufacturing of products.
- Lead the implementation of assurances, process controls and CAPA systems, serving as an effective leader or team member in quality-related decisions and practices.
- Ensure the development and execution of streamlined mistake-proof business and production systems that effectively identify and resolve quality issues.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to ensure quality objectives are achieved and quality issues are resolved effectively.
- Ensure activities and deliverables meet regulatory and corporate requirements.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives, including Value Improvement Projects and Lean Business Practices.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience leading technical teams, or minimum of 5 years' experience as a technical individual contributor with a proven track record of successful project completion.
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, minimum of 15 years' progressive engineering experience or Certified Quality Engineer certification with significant engineering work history.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a regulated industry.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in the use of statistical methods, including trend analysis, Pareto charts and other data analysis techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in structured problem-solving methodologies to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master of Business Administration.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, both technical and conversational.
- Demonstrated decision-making and negotiation skills, independently and within cross-functional teams.
- Experience managing multiple projects across diverse organizational disciplines.
- Audit experience serving as a technical lead.
