Job Description:
The Senior R&D Engineer will contribute to the development and integration of advanced medical devices for peripheral interventions. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, driving technical excellence, and ensuring product designs meet the highest quality and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Contribution: Participate in the design and development of medical devices, ensuring they meet user needs and regulatory requirements.
- Design and Development: Conduct feasibility studies, develop prototypes, and perform testing and validation to optimize product designs.
- Problem-Solving and Compliance: Investigate failure modes, perform root cause analyses, and develop solutions to address technical challenges. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs, to ensure successful product development and integration.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and review engineering documentation, including technical reports, design history files, and regulatory submissions. Present project updates and technical insights to stakeholders.
Minimum required qualifications:
- BS or above in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
- 6+ years of engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree OR 4+ years with a master’s degree.
- 2+ years of experience with Medtech device design and development.
- Previous experience with product integrations
- Expertise to provide technical leadership with product strategy – design and development.
- Strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, collaborative mindset, and effective communication skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- Personal drive, individual accountability & a strong bias for action
- An independent critical thinker; willingness to challenge status quo
- Comfortable working ‘in the gray’; known for innovative, out of the box thinking to identify new approaches to meeting requirements
- Experience with medical device development for single use devices and those containing Electronic Medical Equipment
- Experience with Boston Scientific Design Controls & Risk Management practices.
