About the Role:
The Sr. Strategic Sourcing Specialist applies a thorough and analytical approach to developing and executing sourcing strategies designed to reduce total costs, enhance supplier value contributions, and secure a sustainable competitive edge in key direct sourcing categories. This role collaborates with divisional stakeholders to align and optimize sustainable sourcing strategies for the metals category and will partner with cross-functional partners in Supplier Quality and Supplier Engineering to execute project deliverables, while ensuring product quality and cost savings. NOTE: this hybrid position requires working on-site three days a week.
Your responsibilities will Include:
- Partnering with internal clients and stakeholders to identify sourcing needs, conduct buyer and market profiles, share marketplace trends and best practices, increase value proposition, and reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO)
- Utilizing strategic sourcing methodologies to establish and execute category strategies that result in a sustainable competitive advantage
- Leading negotiation processes and work with stakeholders and legal teams to execute contracts
- Managing the bidding process and annual operational budget to ensure inputs are correct; address proposed increases and prevent unfavorable purchase price variance (PPV)
- Collaborating with core teams to support projects for new product development, integrations, and transfers; align with strategic supply base to identify and mitigate risks, and deliver according to schedules and cost targets
- Overseeing contract and vendor management activities, such as strategic reviews, site visits, service escalations and risk mitigation; maintain supplier performance review metrics and scorecards
- Promoting continuous value improvement for all aspects of quality, service, and cost with assigned supply base
- Monitoring and reporting market dynamics and changes that affect internal client needs; identify category trends to drive continuous improvement with larger procurement team
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, business or related field
- Minimum 3yrs of strategic sourcing and supply chain or supplier relationship management experience
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with MS Excel and other applications (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, MS Project etc.)
- Ability to travel 15%
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or professional certification (i.e. CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, etc.)
- Experience working in medical device or similarly regulated industry
- Experience sourcing for metal and wire components
- Strong decision-making and negotiation skills, ability to influence internal and external teams
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete projects
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate effectively with individuals on all levels
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills: process and results-oriented
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize competing responsibilities effectively
