About the role:

At Boston Scientific, our products and technologies are used to diagnose or treat a wide range of medical conditions. We continue to innovate in key areas and are extending our innovations into new geographies and high-growth adjacency markets.

 

Within the WATCHMAN franchise, we develop educational strategies and implement training programs that support a diverse and expanding ecosystem of healthcare providers caring for patients with atrial fibrillation. Our team serves a broad spectrum of learners—including physicians across multiple specialties, Advanced Practice Providers, and other members of the care team involved in AFib management. We identify and engage these stakeholders through collaborative partnerships that enhance education, advance the appropriate application of therapy, and ensure safe and effective use of Boston Scientific technologies.

 

In this role, the Senior Group Manager, Healthcare Provider Education (WATCHMAN) will be responsible for shaping the strategic vision and overseeing the execution of healthcare provider education across the WATCHMAN franchise. This includes close partnership with Electrophysiology, Interventional Cardiology, and CRM teams to deliver high-impact learning experiences that improve patient care and support therapy growth.

 

Work model, sponsorship, relocation:

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage day-to-day activities of staff to maximize proactive contributions to educational initiatives and ensure the group meets commitments, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Determine team structure that best meets business needs. Identify and develop clear job functions/responsibilities and communicate expectations effectively. Manage performance to expectations.
  • Allocate and manage resources appropriately. Manage programs and projects to meet all deadlines and budget requirements. Define and implement team processes to ensure executional excellence.
  • Provide strong people leadership, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and development-focused team culture. Coach, mentor, and support staff in achieving both performance and professional growth goals.
  • Demonstrate strong financial and operational rigor, ensuring accurate budget planning, ongoing expense tracking, and responsible resource allocation across the entire medical education portfolio.
  • Initiate, build, and maintain internal and external relationships at all levels to achieve divisional, departmental, and initiative goals. Participate and collaborate across the industry and within Boston Scientific to ensure executional excellence.
  • Identify and develop metrics and reporting to evaluate team output and program impact. Identify areas of improvement and new opportunities to meet organizational goals. Implement solutions and make recommendations to management to improve performance and impact.
  • Deliver key inputs to the department’s annual Strategic Plan and Operating Plan, influencing team direction and balancing business priorities with resource needs.
  • Manage infrastructure, equipment, and programming needs for all WATCHMAN medical education initiatives.
  • Ensure physician activities and programs are conducted in full compliance with Boston Scientific policies.
  • Provide coaching and development to staff; identify growth opportunities and support career progression. Motivate individuals to achieve results.

 

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in healthcare, life sciences, or a training-related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in medical education, skills training, research, or physician education.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in leading and managing a team of direct reports.
  • Experience in the creation and delivery of diverse training methods.
  • Demonstrated strength in people management, including coaching, performance management, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Ability to build strong internal and external (HCP) relationships.
  • Ability to manage projects and collaborate with external vendors.
  • Strong attention to detail with proven ability to manage complex budgets, track expenses accurately, and ensure fiscal accountability across multiple programs.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically (10–25%).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a healthcare or education-related field.
  • Direct medical education experience, including knowledge of relevant processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in team leadership and development.
  • Strong leadership competencies—particularly in communication, collaboration, planning, innovation, and strategic thinking.

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com—will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
