About the Role
The Digital Content Strategist is passionate about understanding our customers’ needs and business goals to develop relevant, useful content that brings the two together. The Strategist will identify and clarify business and marketing objectives, identify user research needs and drive content strategy and content marketing for key audience segments. Utilizing channel infrastructure and content development processes the Digital Content Strategist will drive the content development and execution process across our digital marketing programs and campaigns in collaboration with our project management, content, and creative teams. 

 

The Digital Content Strategist will lead content planning exercises including storyboarding, empathy mapping, scripting, content gap analyses and experience prototyping to ensure the digital marketing team crafts useful, effective, and efficient experiences for our customers. The Content Strategist will work cross-functionally across the organization including partnering closely with the Digital Strategist to ensure content aligns to digital marketing tactics and KPIs while providing a seamless end-to-end customer experience. The Content Strategist will partner closely with the Product Marketing team to ensure content aligns to business and marketing objectives as well as partner closely with the Digital Marketing Analyst to report out on content performance and ensure there is ongoing optimization based on market needs.  

 

This role will primarily drive HCP related campaigns and qualified candidates will be fluent in today’s digital marketing ecosystem including but not limited to CRM, Marketing Automation, Email, Media Planning & Organic and Paid Social. This role will report to the Associate Director, Digital Marketing & Experience. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Refine segmentation & targeting, key points of differentiation and reasons to believe in collaboration with product marketing. 
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to gain consensus on program strategy, target audience and objectives. 
  • Lead and own the development of customer-centric content strategy for key audience segments based on user research and customer personas.
  • Develop customer journey maps in collaboration with the Digital Strategist.
  • Create segmented and personalized content marketing plans aligned to the customer journey.
  • Work with strategic copywriters to create directional messaging framework and pillars.
  • Create proposed high-level budget for content creation. 
  •  Author creative briefs and lead kickoffs for designers, agencies, copywriters and the execution team.
  • Generate ideas – independently and with team members to turn scientific/medical information and data into engaging content (e.g. whitepapers, infographics, videos) that meets business objectives and KPIs including peer-to-peer engagement and demand generation.
  • Translate existing content into new content opportunities across digital channels.
  • Plan, document, and maintain content guidelines while educating others on best practices and trends for campaigns. 
  • Partner with UX, visual design and digital production teams to continually review site structures and nomenclature to ensure the most intuitive presentation of content for our customers. 
  • Partner with analytics resource and sales operations team to test content types, creative approach, etc show value of content marketing and provide a regular cadence of reports. 
  • Build, activate and manage cross-functional relationships with marketing and communications, Digital, Analytics, UX/Design, MarTech, IT and others as needed. 
  • Play a thought-leader role by sharing knowledge and best practices with both internal and external teams.
  • Continually identify ways to innovate content creation and distribution. 


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Sciences or similar. Master's Degree a plus. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of content strategy experience preferably in an agency or regulated pharma, biotech or healthcare environment 
  • Experience planning and executing content marketing programs that align to the customer online purchasing journey.
  • Strong understanding of search engine optimization and user experience
  • Independent, self-starter that can manage time and projects effectively to meet deliverable dates. 
  • Experience driving content projects from conception through production and optimization
  • Excellent research skills specifically in the areas of anatomy, disease states, procedures and treatments, clinical research, and clinical data.
  • Attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills both verbal and written. 
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of time as needed.
  • In all actions, demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
