About the role:
This leader will own the vision, strategy, and delivery of Planisware as the enterprise Project Portfolio Management (PPM) platform for R&D financial planning and project/portfolio management at Boston Scientific. As the primary voice of R&D finance and portfolio stakeholders, this individual will manage the Planisware product lifecycle—maintaining the product backlog, validating new features, and guiding Agile delivery of critical capabilities to meet business goals.
The Principal Product Manager will work within a dedicated, cross-functional sprint team and partner closely with R&D Finance, PMOs, asset owners, IT, and business stakeholders to ensure Planisware delivers measurable value and supports strategic planning.

Your responsibilities will include:
Product leadership & strategy:
- Define and communicate the product vision and roadmap for Planisware focused on R&D finance and portfolio management
- Align product strategy with broader IT and R&D business objectives
- Collaborate with divisional R&D Finance and PMO stakeholders to optimize Agile, Lean, DevOps, and User-Centered Design processes
Execution & delivery:
- Apply Agile methodologies to Planisware implementation and continuous improvement
- Lead cross-functional sprint team (product, engineering, design, data science) to deliver and support features
- Define KPIs and track adoption and business impact of new capabilities
Backlog & release management:
- Maintain and prioritize the product backlog
- Write detailed user stories and acceptance criteria
- Validate designs and features based on business feedback and user input
- Coordinate feature releases in collaboration with Product Owners and R&D finance leadership
Stakeholder engagement:
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies (standups, planning, retrospectives, demos)
- Conduct user interviews and collaborate with stakeholders to gather feedback
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Lumos PPM team and business users
Compliance & documentation:
- Ensure development and documentation comply with internal SOPs and standards
- Partner with Quality, Regulatory, Legal, Security, and Privacy to deliver compliant and secure solutions
Communication & reporting:
- Provide regular updates to senior IT leadership, R&D finance, and portfolio stakeholders
- Promote a collaborative product culture across engineering, design, and analytics
Continuous learning & domain expertise:
- Stay current on Planisware capabilities, R&D finance processes, industry trends, and regulatory updates
- Learn and fill knowledge gaps related to clinical workflows, system integrations, and enterprise planning
Required qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner for enterprise PPM platforms
- At least 3 years' hands-on experience with Planisware, including configuration and workflows
- Proven success implementing a PPM solution for R&D financial planning and portfolio management in a Fortune 500 healthcare or medical device organization
- Experience leading Agile teams in regulated environments (FDA, SOX, GDPR)
- Strong understanding of integration with SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven ability to influence across IT, R&D, finance, quality, and compliance functions
Preferred qualifications:
- Familiarity with Boston Scientific’s internal SOPs, Work Instructions, and documentation processes
- Knowledge of Boston Scientific’s software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices
