About the role:

The Director of Field Clinical Operations leads a global team of Field Clinical Specialists responsible for providing clinical case support to ensure the safe and effective execution of Boston Scientific clinical trials. This role ensures adherence to protocol requirements, global regulatory compliance, and alignment with corporate and departmental objectives. The position also collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to inform strategic decisions that impact the clinical trial roadmap and departmental processes. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Clinical Affairs.

 

Work Mode:
This is a remote position up to 75% travel required.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Build and manage the Field Clinical Specialists (FCS) team for Coronary Interventions and Interventional Heart Failure.
  • Provide strategic input into clinical trial planning, with emphasis on clinical case support.
  • Serve as the principal technical resource for customers, clinical engineering, and field-facing personnel.
  • Develop clinical training materials for FCSs and site investigators to ensure optimal case execution aligned with trial protocols.
  • Ensure all training documentation complies with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve study execution goals.
  • Represent the company at presentations, conventions, forums, and meetings to share product and trial information.
  • Guide, coach, and develop direct reports; promote inclusive practices that empower team members to reach their full potential.
  • Oversee and manage team-related budget activities.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and global regulatory standards.
  • Drive departmental goals by equipping FCSs with the tools, training, and support needed for successful clinical trial execution.
  • Provide input on clinical protocol development, particularly regarding the feasibility of collecting critical endpoint data.
  • Evaluate and assess site capabilities, including IRB/EC and Competent Authority approvals, contract processes, enrollment potential, and investigator engagement.

 

 

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in life sciences, healthcare, engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in clinical operations or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of people management experience, including oversight of remote teams.
  • Experience leading global clinical operations teams in the medical device industry.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional leadership through effective collaboration and strategic initiative execution.
  • Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ISO 14155, and other international clinical trial standards.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% domestically 

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in life sciences, healthcare, engineering, or related field (e.g., MS, PhD, MBA).
  • Proven experience in interventional cardiology and/or heart failure therapies preferred
  • Experience collaborating with physicians, research coordinators, regulatory bodies, and clinical research organizations (CROs).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience representing clinical operations in executive forums.

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com--will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
