About the role:

The Global Talent Management function at BSC is seeking a customer-centric and progressive leader to fill a newly created Director, HR Analytics & Talent Planning role. Leading a team of analysts and working across a global matrix organization, this role will be focused on delivering data-driven insights which enable Boston Scientific leaders to proactively plan their talent needs, evaluate the effectiveness of their workforce attraction, development and engagement initiatives, identify past and future trends and make informed human capital decisions which will drive the ongoing success of the business.


The BSC HR function is currently under-going an exciting transformation initiative called “HR of the Future” and this position is a key component to this strategy.   The role will have high visibility across the global HR function, with regular interaction with the CHRO and global HR leadership team.  We are looking for a hands-on and execution focused strategic thinker who also has the skill-set to help us shape a more agile and scalable HR function at BSC.


Your responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute on a strategic plan for HR Analytics at BSC.  Considering business needs, external environment developments and technology advancements, determine the future roadmap for HR Analytics at BSC, and the operational requirements it will take to get there.
  • Play a key advisory role to the CHRO, VP Global Talent Management and other senior HR and Business leaders by synthesising human capital data, communicating results clearly and recommending courses of action based on the insights.
  • Owner of the Workforce & Talent Planning processes and tools which are utilized by HR Business Partners and Business leaders.    Work closely with Finance to aggregate input from business submissions to determine global BSC picture, including enterprise-wide headcount plans.
  • Provide labour market assessments to support location strategies and decision making.  Leverage all relevant sources of external and internal data.
  • Develop and engage a high-performing team of analysts who provide the following services:
    • Business Partner support to dedicated client groups, based on a deep understanding of the functional area being supported.  Support HR & Business leaders with analytical insights as they work through the annual Strategic, Operating and Workforce planning processes.
    • Business specific insights & recommendations from the regular cadence of HR reports and dashboards produced by the Operational HR Reporting team.
    • Analytics and complex reporting support required for business specific initiatives and opportunities.
  • Provide SME expertise consulting in the design and management of qualitative and quantitative data capture.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts in HR Analytics at BSC.  Regularly obtain customer feedback and stay abreast of developments within the field.  Work closely with HR technology and operational reporting teams to deliver improved levels of service.
  • Work collaboratively with the HR Technology team to determine the technology strategy for HR Analytics.  Understand what is available externally, regularly assess the needs of the organization and develop proposals and investment business cases for technology enhancements.
  • Ensure that BSC is not just focused on internal data and insights.  Identify and utilize relevant data and benchmarks from external sources which can be used in conjunction with internal data.  Enable BSC to understand the latest human capital trends in the wider environment and to make informed assessments of where potential enhancement opportunities exist.


What we’re looking for:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or BS in a data/analytical related field preferred
  • 8+ years of experience of delivering value in Analytics roles, ideally at organizations with progressive approaches to the field which have provided exposure to latest HR Analytics practices
  • Business Acumen – ability to understand the context of the data and relate analytical insights to real business challenges and opportunities
  • Communication – aptitude to communicate complex data and insights in a succinct and compelling way to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.  Adept at creating the “story” which weaves together data into a compelling message
  • Influence – able to influence HR and Business leaders using data-driven insights
  • Proven Team Builder – previous experience of attracting and developing great analytics talent, developing high-performing teams with a track record of business impact
  • Collaboration – at ease working across a global matrix organization, effective at developing close working partnerships
  • Technology Proficient – Experience of HCM/HR Analytics systems.  BSC uses Success Factors as its HCM so experience in this software is a distinct advantage.  Experience using RPA, AI and other emerging technologies in the Analytics space is also an advantage.
  • Previous experience in workforce and talent planning, at the business unit or enterprise level
  • Data capture design and validation experience – ability to work with external vendors, or build in-house, the data collection activities needed to provide next-level analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to network externally and stay abreast of industry trends and technology advancements within the HR Analytics arena.
