About the Role

The Urology and Pelvic Health division at Boston Scientific is a rapidly evolving, complex and fast-growing dynamic business.  The Boston Scientific Stone portfolio includes capital, disposable and implant technologies to enable safe and efficient minimally invasive approaches to treat Kidney stones.   This portfolio will exceed $650M in global revenue, growing double digits, and is a major source of divisional growth across the globe in the coming years.  The Stone Marketing Team is responsible for delivering marketing strategies and commercial results for the Stone Franchise with a heavy emphasis on increasing the awareness and adoption of current and newly launching technologies globally.  The Stone Marketing team currently consists of 3 direct reports and a total team of 13 product marketers.

 

The Global Marketing Director is responsible for establishing and driving strategy, innovation and commercial execution for the global stone franchise.  They have accountability for both establishing the global franchise vision across the strategic plan period but also ensuring successful achievement of global franchise revenue and spend commitments within the annual operating plan. 

 

The Director leverages strengths in global thinking, cross functional collaboration, customer focus, organizational communication, change leadership, talent development and organizational influence to establish the objectives for "where" the organization needs to go to achieve the vision for the stone franchise.   Additionally, the Director will develop and deliver strategies to specify "how" Boston Scientific will achieve those objectives.   This individual is responsible for ensuring that the marketing objectives are met for the global franchise.    The Director will ensure that the division is properly allocating resources and developing key capabilities to win vs. the competition.  This individual will lead, drive and motivate the organization to meets its goals.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate and align with sales, global counterparts and cross-functional team members to develop and execute plans that work in synergy to deliver overall revenue and profit objectives.
  • Strong collaboration and interaction with clinical and economic customers and thought leaders to ensure the right inputs into our portfolio, evidence and commercial plans.   
  • Actively manages and leads the innovation pipeline with close collaboration with the Director of R&D.  Making clear prioritization and funding tradeoffs to deliver the near- and long-term franchise goals.
  • Identify opportunities for global market development and independently execute tactics, leveraging cross-functional teams to achieve team goals.
  • Attract, lead and develop direct reports and organizational competencies.  Attract, develop and promote results-oriented skill sets and leadership that match with specific franchise and/or marketing function needs. Foster a diverse workplace.  Actively coach and mentor organizational talent by creating opportunities for challenge and skill advancement, with appropriate reward and recognition.  Measure direct report performance and provide feedback.   Develop succession plans and long range organizational plans.
  • Establish strong relationships with other functions impacting franchise marketing activities (Value Marketing, Field Marketing, HEMA, Medical Affairs, Medical Education, Clinical, Regulatory affairs, finance, operations, etc.).
  • Continuously measure the impact of marketing initiatives, generating early learnings, and driving continuous improvement to achieve revenue and operating income targets.
  • Continually interact with other franchise/divisional peers to share, and promote, best practices.
  • Strong communication and change leadership in support of franchise/divisional strategies that engage the team, strengthen collaboration and foster a culture of winning spirit
  • Monitors market and competitive landscape; anticipates competitive response to changing market dynamics; and proactively develops BSC strategies to combat competitive activity.
  • Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.

 

What we’re looking for in you

  • Bachelor’s degree, and preferably MBA focused on business, marketing or significant relevant commercial experience
  • Minimum 10 years of successful related commercial experience; pharmaceutical, medical device experience is preferred
  • At least 6 years Brand Marketing, Product Management or Medical Device Sales Experience preferred, with a sustained track record of success. 
  • Must have demonstrated leadership experience managing a team of direct reports including manager (developing managers of teams, developing high performers, managing poor performance, structuring teams for success and change)
  • Experience in integrating new teams, businesses and companies into larger organizations highly desired.
  • Proven ability to develop new business programs and positively impact business trajectories with experience in customer research, strategy development, new product development and commercialization.
  • Action oriented strategic thinker, with a natural ability to collaborate with a wide array of stakeholders
  • Strong strategic skill set and proactive cross-functional team player with capability to communicate concisely at a senior management level and across business units
  • Ability to engage and influence cross-functional colleagues, even without direct reporting relationships
  • Experience working globally in a virtual & matrix organization, directly across multiple countries/regions, with proven ability to work within areas of cultural difference or consumer sensitivity.
  • Willing to travel 50%, including domestic and international
