Director, Strategic Sourcing – Direct Materials

 

 About the Role:

 

At Boston Scientific, the Director of Strategic Sourcing is responsible for developing and executing optimal sourcing strategies for an assigned Direct materials category. The role includes leading procurement initiatives in sourcing, selecting, and managing global supplier relationships that ensure the supply of quality and cost competitive manufacturing materials.

 

Your Responsibilities Include:
  

  • Direct/lead/coach a Sourcing team to ensure that strategies are developed and implemented, resulting in a strong supply base that continuously creates a sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Serves as the company’s interface in business-to-business connections for top strategic vendors
  • Partners with internal clients and stakeholders to identify sourcing needs; conduct buyer/market profiles; share marketplace trends; develop sourcing strategies; share best practices and define acceptable service levels
  • Develops sourcing strategies; solicits/analyzes request for proposals; negotiates contracts and coordinates supplier integration plans with external and internal clients
  • Monitors market dynamics and communicates changes that affect internal client needs
  • Helps develop the make/buy decision making process and actively influences global make/buy decisions
  • Sets policies and methodologies for sourcing new products or services, approving vendors, and determining when products should be sourced to a single vendor or to multiple vendors to provide for a stable and consistent supply
  • Establishes a supplier relationship management process with continuous improvement goals/programs as relates to the contract management processes
  • Provides direction to plant material personnel to execute local sourcing strategies in line with overall strategic sourcing direction
  • Guide the development of worldwide policies for purchasing as relates to inventory management. Provides direction for the development of analytical tools and for the identification of inventory trends and opportunities.
  • Develop Annual Sourcing Business Plans that will reflect year-over-year sustainable cost competitiveness, quality enhancements and overall continuous improvement.
  • Build strong collaborative value-adding relationship with internal customer groups, cross functional team members and suppliers.
  • Develop, implement, and manage processes for supply-related (1) problem resolution and (2) opportunity identification between users and suppliers that result in high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports Boston Scientific Quality Policy, Quality System, and the appropriate regulations for the area they support.  Ensure all employees are developed and trained to do their work and their training is documented.
  • Foster an inclusive, engaged, and diverse workplace environment that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g., federal/country, and regulatory requirements).

 

What We’re Looking For:
 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • 10+ years Advanced Strategic Sourcing and Procurement experience
  • 5+ years People Leadership experience
  • Direct Materials/Procurement SME expertise

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • MBA Degree Preferred
  • Medical Device Industry Experience
