The webMethods Architect is responsible for the overall solution and technical architecture of our webMethods and EDI solutions.  This person will lead code reviews, lead the overall development direction, and function as the overall SME for Boston Scientific’s webMethods solutions.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works as the webMethods Solution and Technical Architect for all webMethods related applications.
  • Manage the architectural design, development, deployment, and technical quality of large EDI enterprise solutions that span multiple technologies and disciplines.
  • Create robust, scalable, sustainable data architecture that supports requirements.
  • Develops Architecture Specification deliverables/companion guides that map customer business requirements into complete information systems (technologies, processes, and people) or operational solutions.
  • Leads the team with code reviews and overall development
  • Analyzes current business practices, user needs and work flow processes.
  • Understands the business problems, needs, or opportunities and designs a virtualized solution that completely and correctly addresses the business problem, need, or opportunity.
  • Devises or modifies procedures to solve problems considering system capacity, limitations, and desired results.
  • Demonstrate efficiencies of the new system and provide feedback to teams.
  • Evaluates the effect of external factors on designed solution.
  • Recommends modifications to application design or current procedures to maximize advantages of existing resources


Experience and Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience working as a webMethods Architect  
  • 5+ years or more of webMethods design and development
  • Knowledge of a variety of hardware and software environments for automation and reporting
  • Experience with process mapping, group presentation, strong verbal/written communication, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to a stringent timeline.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of how the industry uses IT-EDI to address business challenges using technical standards and infrastructure, cross-industry trends that impact IT investment, industry-specific roadmaps, and IT enablers.
