About the role:

The Finance team is looking for a Finance Steward – Global Supply Chain, a key leadership role in the global process standardization of Accounting (ATR) process areas. This role is being created as an outcome of the Global Finance innovation initiative, Finance Forward, to help drive sustainable improvements across our financial processes and capabilities to scale for future growth.  

        
This role helps drive transformation as part of the Accounting (ATR) Process Council, with a focus on Global Supply Chain Finance. This Finance Steward supports the Accounting (Account to Report - ATR) change agenda and roadmap execution in their respective function. This role collaborates closely with GSC Finance leaders and their delegates to discuss proposed improvement ideas and provide GSCF perspectives / feedback to the Global Process Leader (GPL) and Accounting (ATR) Process Council. The role includes managing, implementing, and communicating approved changes effectively with respective stakeholders. Finance Stewards are effective collaborators, excellent communicators, and proactive change agents. They possess extensive and diverse accounting experience and knowledge and are effective at managing stakeholder relationships.  

 
The Finance Steward – Global Supply Chain reports to Dervla Geraghty, with a dotted line to Nicole Tuttle (ATR Global Process Leader).

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide Global Supply Chain (ATR) perspectives: The Finance Stewards will consult with their assigned finance teams / other key stakeholders to gather feedback and perspectives on process changes resulting from initiatives. They will articulate and convey these insights to the GPL, Process Stewards, and Accounting (ATR) Process Council to support decision-making. They will serve as the point of contact for Global Supply Chain Finance teams to suggest and provide feedback for process improvements  
  • Drive change: The Finance Steward is a change champion for the global process framework. They drive change for all initiatives in the change agenda/roadmap for Global Supply Chain Finance, collaborating with finance teams to address issues, concerns and ensure the roadmap captures initiatives important to the finance teams, in alignment with the controllers. They consolidate feedback from their respective stakeholders, share the insight with the GPL, collaborate with Process Stewards for further evaluation as necessary, and ensure streamlined updates to the Accounting (ATR) Process Council. This role is responsible for driving execution, implementation and ensuring the successful completion of initiatives including gathering feedback on change execution and process improvements within GSCF.  
  • E2E process & value improvement: The Finance Steward partners with GSCF & Process Stewards to gather feedback and drive execution of improvement initiatives. Throughout this process, they drive analytics on the relevant processes and engage with respective stakeholders and Process Stewards, to ensure functional perspectives are considered in the updated process design. They consult with the GSCF teams to provide feedback on the proposed process design changes, while collaborating with the process stewards to execute the approved changes. The Finance Steward will contribute to establishing best practices for designing scalable, effective, and efficient processes Accounting (ATR) processes. 
  • Performance measures: The Finance Steward collaborates with other Finance members, Process Stewards, transformational programs (i.e. Magellan, Finance Forward, etc), service infrastructure and Accounting (ATR)/service delivery teams to globally align metrics, scorecards, and other performance measures. They review performance metrics of GSCF within the defined performance measures for Accounting (ATR) to identify potential process improvement opportunities. The Finance Steward will work with relevant stakeholders on items in their RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependencies) log that present process improvement opportunities and present them to GPL and Accounting (ATR) Process Council. 
  • Governance: The Finance Stewards will drive governance of accounting processes, change prioritization, escalations, and improvement initiatives within GSCF. They will engage in the Accounting (ATR) Process Council by presenting opportunities, contributing to decision-making and overseeing the initiatives. Provide status updates to the respective Finance leadership based on the governance agreed with them and the GPL. 

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred. 
  • CPA, CMA, MBA or equivalent preferred.  
  • 10+ years progressive end to end accounting experience; with deep experience across many different areas within accounting. Ideally proven success within GSCF at BSC. 
  • Technical skills: Business process improvement methodology, ERP experience (SAP S/4).  
  • Global mindset and within respective space. Includes mentoring others in this area  
  • Functional knowledge: Demonstrated application of accounting principles, local regulations (where required), and ability to ask the right questions of E2E SMEs. Provides financial analysis in the Accounting (ATR) processes. Significant knowledge & experience with US GAAP, IFRS, internal controls, and SOX 404 and how they impact the end-to-end process, financial statements, and financial statement assertions.  
  • Problem-solving skills: Demonstrated superior problem-solving skills, ability to influence all levels at BSC, flexible communication and consulting / collaboration skills, along with dedicated team-building and interpersonal abilities. Outstanding ability to diagnose problems related to process, technology, strategy, or people. Experience in implementing successful issue resolution actions/measures and in articulating the problem and solution effectively to stakeholders.  
  • Strong financial acumen: Proficient in developing business cases for process improvement initiatives. Ability to develop strong, compelling value propositions.  
  • Strong leadership, executive presence and influence skills: Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate and impact teams (including teams that are not direct reports) working under tight timelines/budgets. Ability to influence executive level stakeholders. Possesses strong and effective communication skills and ability to exert influence through collaboration and respect, even without formal authority. 
  • Global experience: Demonstrated self-awareness of communication styles and cultural differences. 
  • Consultative style: Ability to formulate and articulate a perspective and present it in a way that fosters understanding and alignment on both strategic and tactical issues. 
  • Language: Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset. 
  • Travel: Occasional, limited travel to other BSC sites may be required.

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com—will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
