About the Role:


The primary responsibility of the Global Category Manager, Facilities, Real Estate, Environment Health & Safety is to develop and implement sourcing strategies in conjunction with the functions of Boston Scientific to reduce spend without compromising quality and safety. The individual will be responsible for managing strategic sourcing processes, developing Category and Subcategory strategies and the negotiation of major contracts for the company. The individual should ensure fair treatment of suppliers while ensuring the highest ethical standards are met throughout the sourcing process.


Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Execute against the Global Facilities Master Plan, Global Facilities Construction Process, and Sustaining Facilities Operational excellence following established Sourcing Processes;
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for cash savings and or cost avoidance based on the collection and analysis of spend data and other sources;
  • Perform sourcing activities that result in measurable and sustainable savings in the procurement of facilities amenities, construction projects, operational services (maintenance, cleaning, contract labor) energy and ancillary services;
  • Create and manage key supplier relationships and help develop new strategic supplier relationships (via MSA’s), or recommend modification or termination of existing relationships;
  • Ensure consensus with all stakeholders on major cross-business agreements. Drive implementation of Facilities category sourcing strategy and processes across all sites;
  • Identify global industry and supplier trends to develop potential global sourcing opportunities
  • Influence global sourcing team members around the world to ensure global processes are adhered to


Global Facilities Capital Process Support:

  • Develop contract and sourcing strategies for Capital Project execution, working with Project Managers;
  • Manage the RFI, RFP, bid analysis and awarding of work/services to key Suppliers;
  • Create and negotiate Master Services Agreements with key Suppliers/Contractors/Professional Service firms;
  • Work closely with Project Managers/engineers to resolve project-specific procurement issues;
  • Support Project Managers through cost control and reporting;
  • Participate in meetings/communications with management in support of business reviews/meetings as they relate to significant capital projects/expansions;
  • Review Bidding/Award Process for significant capital projects;
  • Participate in and drive Continuous Improvement activities.


What We’re Looking For:


Required Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field and equivalent experience is required.  An advanced degree and professional certification (e.g., C.P.M., F.M.P. or C.F.M.) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience in procurement-related activities and experience in sourcing Facilities and or Capital Project services strongly desired.
  • The candidate must have exceptional business and leadership skills. (S)He must be capable of building relationships and have the wisdom to effectively influence others, sometimes globally, at all levels within the organization and outside of it to attain the most beneficial result.
  • Expert knowledge of the related category. (S)He must possess category experience in the sourcing of facilities services specifically but not limited to capital construction projects, cafeteria, canteen and dining services, global security, environmental services, energy, amenities and other related services.
  • The candidate should have great project management, and negotiation skills as well as RFP execution and contract writing skills.
  • The incumbent must know how to organize and strategize each opportunity to yield optimum results.
  • This position will require that the individual be proficient at building business cases and presenting these cases to senior management within the facilities department.
