About the role:

The Strategy Group Manager will play a critical role in shaping our divisional strategy and future vision.  This position will lead the day-to-day management of the strategic planning and annual operating plan (AOP) processes while driving divisional portfolio and market research projects that shape the company’s strategy, growth, and competitive positioning.  This role requires high collaboration with R+D Leadership, FLTs, Upstream and Downstream Marketing Leadership.

 

Work Mode:

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the portfolio process across Endoscopy. This includes:
    • Measure and communicate our portfolio health and balance; make recommendations to improve our investment strategy: positive financials, programs that bring us closer to balance targets, programs that complete our market segment strategy, meaningful inch ups
    • Ensure that risk is clearly captured across the portfolio and evaluate new ways to assess risk (all types, internal/external)
    • Conduct formal postmortems from recent projects and apply to determination of hybrid type
    • In partnership with Upstream Marketing lead and FLTs, Increase regional engagement and highlight regional portfolio gaps
    • In partnership with R+D Leadership, utilize the hybrid portfolio strategy to make recommendations on portfolio acceleration
    • Oversee the portfolio process, ensuring robust, data-informed decision making, decision maker and portfolio advisor engagement, and organizational alignment.
  • In partnership with Upstream Marketing and R&D, create a unified portfolio strategy/vision, encompassing our current portfolio footprint, competitive threats, and future areas of investment
  • Work with the R&D organization to support the R&D Deep Dive.
  • Develop clear, compelling communication materials (e.g., presentations, reports, dashboards) for leadership teams and the organization (to ensure alignment on the portfolio strategy).
  • Lead Strategic Plan and Annual Operating Plan: including building and refining the story, alignment with regions, collecting cross functional input and driving engagement in working sessions, ongoing strategy development.  Actively make recommendations on improvements to our divisional strategic processes.
  • Propose and conduct assessments to inform the strategic plan, including identifying opportunities and risks, growth opportunities, and defining plans with clear deliverables, milestones, accountabilities, and measures of success, and deliver insights and recommendations to senior leadership to support decision-making.
  • Manage cross-functional teams and workstreams to ensure timely delivery of strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Manage and prioritize divisional qualitative and quantitative market research, including longitudinal tracking studies to inform an understanding of trends over time
  • Lead team of senior level professionals focused on execution of strategic market research projects

 

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or related field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, business development, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategic planning processes and deliver complex cross-functional projects.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills; ability to translate strategy into measurable business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, global environment with multiple priorities.
  • Strategic and analytical mindset with strong business acumen.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills.
  • Influential collaborator able to work across FLTs, functions, and geographies.
  • Proactive problem-solver, adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Skilled in synthesizing market, financial, and operational insights into actionable strategies.

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com—will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
