Boston Scientific is embarking on a multi-year enterprise AI transformation to responsibly and effectively integrate artificial intelligence across the organization. We are seeking an HR Principal, AI organization transformation, to serve as a senior individual contributor and subject matter expert driving the design and execution of AI-driven organization, workforce and workflow transformation across the enterprise.

Reporting to the HR director, AI organization transformation, this role operates with a high degree of autonomy and acts as a thought partner to senior HR and business leaders. The principal owns key workstreams end to end, from operating model and organization design through job redesign and workflow transformation, and serves as a primary practitioner driving quality and rigor in team outputs.

This role requires deep expertise in organization design, job and work design, and business process redesign, combined with strong working knowledge of AI and its implications for how organizations are structured and how work gets done. It is an ideal fit for someone who has led this type of work in consulting or a large enterprise and is ready to own it end to end in a complex, global medtech environment.


Work model, sponsorship, relocation:

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.


Your responsibilities will include:

AI transformation strategy and planning
● Partner with the HR director and enterprise stakeholders to identify, shape and prioritize AI organization transformation opportunities aligned to business and workforce strategy

● Translate AI strategy into actionable transformation plans, including operating models, organization redesigns, job redesign outputs and workflow roadmaps

● Develop business cases and value assessments for AI transformation initiatives, quantifying efficiency gains, workforce impacts and return on investment

● Monitor AI, GenAI and agent-based AI trends and translate insights into actionable recommendations

● Support enterprise AI governance by contributing to standards, frameworks and best practices for responsible and scalable AI adoption

Organization and job design
● Lead organizational redesign analyses and design efforts, including research, stakeholder interviews and development of design recommendations

● Apply task-level decomposition to assess automation and augmentation opportunities and redefine human-AI boundaries

● Design AI-era roles and job families, including human-AI teaming and governance roles with clear accountability and competency frameworks

● Ensure job architecture outputs, including job descriptions, job families and career paths, reflect evolving AI-driven requirements

● Partner with HR Business Partners, Talent Management and Total Rewards to connect job design outputs to workforce and talent decisions

● Utilize organizational design methodologies and tools such as OrgVue to support analysis and communication of recommendations

Workflow redesign
● Lead end-to-end workflow redesign for high-priority processes, including current-state mapping and future-state design

● Partner with business and IT stakeholders to map workflows and define automation and role boundaries

● Apply continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma or Agile to ensure scalable and efficient designs

● Build and scale reusable workflow redesign tools, templates and methodologies

● Establish measurement frameworks to track efficiency, adoption and value realization

Change enablement and adoption
● Design and execute change management strategies, including stakeholder engagement, communications, training and adoption tracking

● Address workforce and cultural impacts of AI adoption, including role evolution and manager readiness

● Partner with HR Business Partners to support leaders in navigating AI-driven change

● Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on workforce and organizational implications of AI

Collaboration and contribution
● Collaborate across HR, IT, Legal, Compliance and business teams to drive alignment and execution

● Support value realization tracking and executive reporting for AI transformation initiatives

● Provide coaching and mentorship to team members supporting transformation efforts

● Contribute to development of methodologies, tools and thought leadership assets


Qualifications:

Required qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in business, organizational development, human resources, industrial/organizational psychology or a related field

● Minimum of 8 years' experience in enterprise transformation, organizational design, HR strategy, consulting or technology-enabled change

● Demonstrated experience in operating model and organizational design, including governance and decision rights frameworks

● Demonstrated experience in job or role redesign within large-scale transformation initiatives

● Experience leading workflow redesign or business process improvement efforts

● Strong working knowledge of AI, GenAI and agent-based AI and their implications for organizations and work

● Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence without direct authority

● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop actionable recommendations

● Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience creating executive-level deliverables

Preferred qualifications:
● Master’s degree in organizational development, organizational psychology, business administration or a related field

● Experience in management consulting focused on organization or workforce transformation in global environments

● Experience designing or building AI agents or agent-based systems

● Experience in regulated industries such as medical technology, health care, financial services or life sciences

● Familiarity with organizational design frameworks such as Galbraith Star Model or Kates Kesler

● Familiarity with work design platforms such as Mercer Work Design, Gloat or Reejig

● Familiarity with workflow automation platforms such as Microsoft Power Automate or Copilot Studio

● Experience working at the intersection of HR, technology and business strategy

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com—will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
