Overview

Boston Scientific is seeking an IT Project Lead to fill a visible role in the IT Make/Supply/Acquisitions Pillar, providing project leadership for the out of the box implementation of an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) application. As the Enterprise EHS Platform Program’s IT Project Lead, this individual will be responsible for project management of all phases of the program, ensuring tracking and reporting, recordable incidents, and for the purpose of continuous improvement and compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety regulations for manufacturing sites.

 

This individual will have oversight of allocated project resources, project budget management and proactive identification/resolution of resource contention issues with respective resource owners.

 

This individual will work under general direction of an IT manger and interact directly with peers, onshore and offshore business peers, business partners, vendor partners, as well as other IT management and IT application teams.  This individual will be the primary vendor engagement manager to ensure project delivery success.

 

This role will require heavy interaction between the vendor and various BSC functions in order to provide solution support and maintain the stability of applications critical to Boston Scientific.  The solution support will vary with business need in scope and complexity but may include: off-hour support, application issue triaging, end-user support, additions and updates to end-user functionality, core business logic enhancements, and analyzing requests for prioritization.

 

This role should have the ability to follow and enforce BSC IT and GSM processes, as well as the ability to guide business partners through these processes and explain the value proposition and benefit that these processes provide.  This position will require regular project documentation and use of systems internal to BSC.

  

Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Adhere to BSC budgetary reporting and management rules.
  • Adhere to BSC GSM compliance.
  • Manage the Procurement processes (Purchase Orders, Invoice tracking, SOW’s, Change Requests, etc)
  • Manage an Agile (or Agile/Iterative) team to deliver solutions through all required sprints.
  • Ensure Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are employed by the team and be able to be a voice of reason and authority.
  • Encouraging Agile behaviors, reinforcing practices, norms, ceremonies, and supporting the overall performance and effectiveness.
  • Facilitate the Agile ceremonies necessary to help the team succeed.
  • Assess and coach teams to higher levels of Agile maturity and becoming self-organized and self-empowered
  • Support the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog
  • Capture team metrics and manage product backlog, measure and track progress
  • Remove impediments / blockers, shield the team from external interferences, and enable collaboration across all roles
  • Escalate status and blockers to the appropriate governance forum
  • Must be able to garner respect from the team and be willing to provide hands-on support to deliver results
  • Be transparent with your Sponsors, Steering Committee and Product Team about status and develop business partner trust
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, conflict resolution and alternative approaches to challenges
  • Resolves issues by working with team members, customers, and others as appropriate

 

What we're looking for:

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 7+ year’s experience in Information Technology projects
  • Demonstrated success working in a highly collaborative, matrix environment, with a track record of accomplishments with measurable business impact
  • Strong sense of personal accountability and courage to change how we work
  • Proven aptitude to learn quickly and improve processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and business partners
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SCRUM certification preferred
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Understand backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition
  • Experience with Agile tools (JIRA) but would be open to other tools
  • Experience coaching, and coordinating efforts with, multiple teams, Agile coaches and SCRUM masters within a matrixed organization
