About the role:
The Center for Biological Innovation (CBI) is a BSC Center of Excellence that utilizes in vitro and ex vivo approaches, such as biochemical, cell-based, microbial, and tissue-based assays to support the design, development and commercialization of BSC products.  The successful Laboratory Technician candidate should have appropriate scientific experience to provide the technical support required for supporting in vitro biomedical research studies.
 
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting in vitro assays, cell-culture based studies, and/or hemocompatibility testing of blood contacting devices at the bench
  • Following experimental protocols and executing on tasks both independently and with guidance from senior team members 
  • Assisting with preparation of data for reporting and presentation
  • Optimizing and troubleshooting technical assays
  • Assisting with receiving supplies, monitoring inventory and stocking lab supplies
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment for experimental execution
  • Maintaining detailed and accurate records
     

Required qualifications:

  • 3 Years with Associate in Arts degree/diploma, or an equivalent combination of education/work experience

 

Preferred qualifications

  • BS in cell biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, or a related field 
  • Ability to quickly learn new techniques and adapt in a changing environment
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task 
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting and on an individual basis
  • Results and detail-oriented
  • Hands on experience in one or more of the following areas: cell culture, hemocompatibility evaluation, immunostaining, flow cytometry, and/or microscopy
  • Previous experience in lab operations
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
