Boston Scientific is seeking a highly motivated Engineer with some experience with electromechanical systems. Initially, the successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing currently commercialized Boston Scientific products and evaluate their compatibility with 3rd party capital equipment. Following the initial ask, the candidate will be supporting the design and development of highly integrated platforms from conception to commercialization and also will be supporting a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electronics and software engineers. We are specifically looking for a systems thinker. System’s thinking can be defined as a high-level view of the product under development and its interactions with other sub-systems within its use environment. Finally, able to realize the impact that one sub-system can have on the overall system.


Be a part of Boston Scientific’s Systems and DICE (Direct Imaging Center of Excellence) division within our Endoscopy R&D group supporting R&D for exciting new products, and business development activities. Work on Electronic Medical Equipment and System development to help grow the business unit through new product development. This equipment adheres to industry standards as applicable and often includes an Electronic Medical Equipment (EME) console, peripherals, and sterilizable/reusable and/or disposable medical devices. The EME console often contains a mix of mechanical, electrical, embedded and application SW.



  • Fully participates in and successfully contributes to project teams typically including the following activities: system architecture design and development, testing, preparation of system and sub-system requirements, test method development and validation, development and release of test equipment, report preparation.
  • Works independently to plan and schedule own activities necessary to meet timelines.
  • Designs and coordinates system and electromechanical engineering tests and experiments.
  • Performs troubleshooting on systems as related to design, interactions with other electromechanical systems, materials, or process.
  • Summarizes, analyzes, and draws conclusions from test results.
  • Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results to technical community.
  • Responsible for engineering documentation.
  • May train and/or provide work direction to technicians.
  • Works cooperatively with outside capital vendors, quality, regulatory, clinical, and marketing to ensure project success.
  • Demonstrates PDP system knowledge through delivery of high quality deliverables.


What we’re looking for in you:

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Biomedical/Mechanical/ or Systems Engineering
  • 4+ years of engineering experience with medical devices
  • Experience with troubleshooting with medical electrical systems
  • Self-Starter with the ability to work independently to plan, schedule and execute activities necessary to meet project timelines.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving

Preferred Qualifications

  • Medical Device industry experience in design controls with a focus on user needs, intended use, system requirements, system design and traceability.
  • Medical Device systems product development experience
  • Familiar with systems verification/validation
