About the role:

The Scientist II will be joining a growing R&D team developing first and best in class technologies and medical devices across multiple procedures in Urologic surgery. This scientist or engineer will support generation of evidence-based datasets through hands on lab-based bench model and test method development and experimental testing design, execution, analysis, and reporting. Work includes independent follow through under experienced scientist direction to support execution of targeted evidence-based datasets and reports for medical device product development, regulatory filings, and market claims.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Successfully supports complex engineering work in one or more of the following: technology development, product design and development, test of materials or products, preparation of specifications, process study, research investigation (bench, animal, and clinical studies), and report preparation.

• Supports team in developing and executing feasibility evaluation testing through hands on mechanical engineering and empirical testing support of bench fixture setup aligned to test method needs.

• Supports team in design, development, and execution of qualification/validation of novel complex bench test methods to solve complex problems. Includes critical thinking to support improved efficiencies or accuracy of testing.

•Independently designs, coordinates, and executes basic or established engineering tests and experiments. Supports team in execution of complex engineering tests with appropriate guidance.

• Independently summarize and analyze basic or established test data with communication of initial results, interpretation, learnings, and further test recommendations.

• Prepares technical reports for communication of study results to technical community and comply with engineering documentation.

• Works cooperatively with various R&D team members for communication and synergistic efforts to improve efficiencies, align on methods, share lab resources, and enable flexibility for broader team shared successes to meet project milestones. Includes ability to work cross-functionally with specified deliverables requiring support from process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing.

• Quick learner to train and adapt new technologies, equipment, and software to grow lab capabilities and resources.

• Demonstrates fast paced learning and productivity for delivery of high quality and high impact deliverables.

 

What we’re looking for in you: 
Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in science or engineering:
    • BS with 2+ yrs relevant experience
    • MS with 1+ yrs relevant experience
  • Engineering research laboratory experience developing bench test fixture setups and executing bench studies maintaining E&HS compliance.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree(s) in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field 
  • Experience with mechanical engineering SolidWorks driven test fixture design, prototyping, setup, and testing.
  • Experience within industry based R&D environment
