About the role:

The Senior Scientist will be joining a growing R&D team developing first and best in class technologies and medical devices across multiple procedures in Urologic surgery. This experienced scientist or engineer will be responsible for leading the technical lab-based R&D studies to support new technology, products, materials, processes, or equipment with minimal supervision. Work includes independent contribution and leadership guidance for team execution of complex methods and datasets supporting targeted evidence-based needs for medical device product development, regulatory filings, and market claims.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Successfully completes complex engineering work in one or more of the following: technology development, product design and development, test of materials or products, preparation of specifications, process development, research investigation (bench, animal, and clinical studies), and report preparation.

• Consistently generates innovative and unique solutions to market needs and submits idea disclosures. Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined products, processes or equipment.

• Supports leadership for translation of customer needs into product requirements and design specifications with planning targeted test strategies. Includes feasibility testing to refine metrics for datasets highlighting technology features.

• Supports leadership with recommendations for study planning and coordination to achieve project goals on time and on budget.

• Train and provide work direction to team members including engineers and technicians.

• Leads team through design, development, and qualification/validation of novel complex bench test methods to solve complex problems and make sound design recommendations.

• Designs, coordinates, and executes complex engineering tests and experiments both independently and as a team member.

• Summarizes, analyzes, and draws conclusions from complex test results.

• Prepares complex reports to communicate results to technical community and comply with engineering documentation.

• Interfaces with Physicians and internal cross-functional stakeholders to obtain feedback on concepts and performance of new devices.

• Works cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing on complex projects to ensure project success.

• Demonstrates product lifecycle system and process knowledge through delivery of high quality and high impact deliverables.

 

What we’re looking for in you: 
Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in science or engineering:
    • BS with 6+ yrs relevant experience
    • MS with 4+ yrs relevant experience
    • PhD with 2+ yrs relevant experience
  • Research laboratory experience developing test methods and designing and executing bench studies 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. preferred. Degree(s) in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, applied mathematics, or related field 
  • Experience with research bench test method design, development, qualification, and validation with engineering documentation
  • Experience with DOE and statistical analysis packages
  • Experience within R&D medical device product development
