About the role:

 

This R&D Engineer II will be part of the Boston Scientific Endoscopy Research and Development Team and will focus primarily on new product development activities related to material characterization, new technologies, processes, or equipment for medical device projects of moderate complexity.  Under limited supervision/guidance, compiles, analyzes and reports operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products, processes, or

materials.

 

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Participates in and successfully contributes to project teams typically including the following activities: product design and development, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process capability studies, research investigations (animal and clinical studies), report preparation, and process/test documentation.
  • Cultivates a wide range of internal business relationships and begins to develop an external network of resources to facilitate completion of tasks.
  • Exercises judgment to determine appropriate action. Has knowledge of alternatives and an understanding of their impact on the business or technological environment.
  • Performs troubleshooting on new products/process problems as related to design, material, or process. Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results to technical community, Summarizes, analyzes, and draws conclusions from test results.
  • Designs and coordinates standard engineering tests and experiment, designs, procures, or fabricates tooling and fixtures.
  • Trains technicians/operators on new processes and/or test procedures.
  • Responsible for engineering documentation.
  • Works cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing to ensure project success.
  • Identifies areas for improvement, suggests solutions, and submits idea records.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering discipline, Chemistry, or related field
  • 3-6 years of experience
  • Strong technical capabilities, communication skills, teamwork and agility

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passion for learning about the relevant anatomy, understanding clinical use scenarios and solving problems for end users
  • Background and knowledge of powder processing and/or material characterization actives
  • Familiar with material and chemical analytical techniques and their applications, Experience with DSC, TGA, DVS, XRPD and SEM a plus.
