Senior Electrical Engineer - Endoscopy R&D, Exploratory & Technology Development Group for Biliary, Endoscopic Ultrasound, Luminal Patency, & Energy


About the role:

Develops new technology, hardware, software, products, processes or equipment for the Endoscopy franchise.  Under limited supervision/guidance, compiles, analyzes and reports operational, test and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products, processes and materials.



  • Leads or participates on project teams to develop clear specifications, evaluates feasibility of concepts and provides formal estimates for electrical/software designs.

  • Coordinates, monitors, and documents project designs, estimates and costs.

  • Creates electrical/software designs utilizing the departments’ standard development tools and procedures.

  • Leads project teams that include Designers, Engineers and Technicians in the design, assembly and debug of equipment.

  • Designs electrical systems and specifies electrical components.

  • Completes FDA/QSR equipment requirements by assisting in the creation of specifications and qualifications.

  • Influences and defines functional, departmental and divisional procedures through involvement with cross-functional engineering initiatives.

  • Selects techniques to solve complex problems and make sound design recommendations. Summarizes, analyzes, and draws conclusions from complex test results.

  • Designs and prepares complex reports to communicate results to technical community. Designs and coordinates complex engineering tests and experiments, including electrical safety testing.

  • Works cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical and marketing on complex projects to ensure project success.

  • May train and/or provide work direction to technicians and entry-level engineers.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering or related field

  • 5+ years relevant experience

  • History of successful problem solving, particularly in early-stage product development


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electrosurgical devices, pulsed electric fields and/or irreversible electroporation

  • Familiarity with  electrical IEC 60601 safety standards

  • Background and knowledge of Endoscopy products & procedures

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering or related field
