Position Summary:

Responsible for providing electrical and mechanical engineering support and expertise in the development, manufacturing and testing of products with a focus on single-use imaging products.  Provides technical direction on a broad scope of new manufacturing and test equipment projects.  Independently, or as a member of a team, develops concepts, plans and builds of internal manufacturing and test equipment.  This job requires 30% travel.

In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assesses process capabilities, prioritizes process improvement opportunities, and innovates and implements process improvements on multiple and moderately complex processes.

  • Executes the functional deliverables associated with the PDP/TDP, Project Management, and Quality Systems.

  • Prepares and presents technical data and recommendations at technical reviews.

  • Trains and/or provides work direction to technicians and engineers and may train manufacturing personnel when required as part of a validation.

  • Experience with test method development and validation including software validation, equipment qualification, release and related documentation requirements.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and external resources needed in developing and implementing new process/product plans.

  • Applies technical knowledge to innovate (including IP creation), design, and develop processes, procedures, tooling and/or automation to support manufacturing and testing of product.

  • Drives and supports complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures to support standardization and cost reduction efforts.  Work is expected to result in the development of new or improved technologies, products, processes, manufacturing and test equipment.

  • Provide guidance and technical direction to product development teams.  Typically serves as a core team member or technical expert (subject matter expert) on platform and complex projects.

  • Interface with BSC's Direct Imaging Center of Excellence (DICE) and Imaging Capital teams to align on a process development technology roadmap for imaging products.

  • Influences and defines functional/departmental/divisional/corporate procedures through involvement with cross-functional engineering initiatives.

  • Specifies and/or designs automated equipment/processes/systems needed to meet challenging product and processing requirements.

  • Provides leadership role on championing functional best practices.

  • Technical writing and engineering documentation skills.

  • Organizational, communication and collaboration skills.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • MS in Electrical Engineering.  Prior experience with the assembly of electro-mechanical medical devices is preferred.

  • Work experience in optics, imaging electronics and/or real-time image processing.

  • 10+ years of work experience in product development or process engineering.

  • Experience leading technical teams across sites and time zones.

  • Must be able to demonstrate competency in leading others in critical thinking, problem solving and analysis and effective technical discussion.

  • Experience in medical imaging, cell phone cameras or similar industries/technologies.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Min. of 7 years work experience in a medical device company working in process or manufacturing engineering.

  • Experience in test methods related to camera electronics
