About the role

You will be part of a New Product Development team in the Single Use Imaging franchise within the Endoscopy division of Boston Scientific. The person in this role will provide mechanical design support in the development of single use scopes in potentially all phases of product development. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead design of components, subassemblies and top assemblies.

  • Participate and contribute to project teams, which typically includes the following activities: product design and development, product design troubleshooting and root cause investigation, report preparation.

  • Work with vendor to procure components and subassemblies.

  • Works independently to plan and schedule own activities necessary to meet timeline.

  • Design, procure and support tooling and fixtures fabrication.

  • Analyzes, draws conclusions, and summarizes for a range of engineering activities.

  • Responsible for engineering documentation.

  • May train and/or provide work direction to other engineers and technicians.

  • Development of inspection routines for measurement tools, like Smartscope.

  • Works cooperatively across the organization to ensure project success.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of Product Life Cycle systems.

 

Requirements

  • New product development experience 9+ years.

  • Self-motivated, able to work independently.

  • Strong design skills and mechanical engineering design support.

  • Good understanding of tolerance analysis, GD&T and DFM.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent Computer aided design knowledge (SolidWorks).

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Experience with injection molding and plastic manufacturing techniques a plus.

  • Experience with electromechanical systems is a plus.

  • Previous experience with medical devices and understanding of medical device design process, including life cycle management system, is a plus.
