About the role: 

The Sr Scrum Master will have primary responsibility to Project Magellan, a multi-year global business transformation initiative accompanying a move of BSC’s ERP system from SAP ECC. Project Magellan’s goal is to simplify, standardize and modernize our core business processes, enabling Boston Scientific to better leverage the power of data and to position our business for profitable and sustainable growth.  

 

Magellan scope includes newly forming scrum teams for each of the functional areas within: Finance, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Service, Commercial, Planning and Procurement. In this role the individual will be a Scrum Master for one of the Magellan scrum teams. This individual should have demonstrated prior experience leading an Agile Scrum team and be highly motivated with excellent analysis, execution and continuous improvement skills.  This role will also be a part of defining and executing Scaled Agile for BSC ERP (SABER) methodology as we deliver this significant Business Transformation and S4 technology using Agile.  In this position, collaboration with globally dispersed business partners and cross-functional team members is a key skill. 

 

Your responsibilities include: 

  • Ensures that goals are understood by everyone in the team as well as possible.
  • Finds techniques for effective product backlog management, that work for the team.
  • Acts as facilitator of scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, stand ups, retrospectives etc.) through a clear understanding of the aim of each event, taking corrective measures as required.
  • Helps the team to continuously improve the effectiveness of their incremental delivery of value to customers & stakeholders, whilst adapting to customer & stakeholder feedback.
  • Collaborates with the Product Manager and team to ensure a healthy prioritized product backlog.
  • Coaches and facilitates the team in self-organization and cross-functionality, delivering agile training and coaching in line with agreed outcomes.
  • Removes impediments to the team's progress.
  • Drives capability uplift in teams against strategic capabilities.
  • Gains a thorough understanding of the application of agile risk management in the bank through experience of it or similar applications.
  • Role models behaviors to support the organization's transformation to a new way of working.
  • Actively creates and maintains the culture within the chapter based on BSC Values & Behaviors.
  • Maintains best-in-class agile expertise and resources in order to deliver the right knowledge and skills to teams.
  • Actively research relevant thought leadership and best practice, both internally and externally.
  • Maintains own technical knowledge through learning and continuous development.

 

What we're looking for: 
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 10+ years’ experience in Information Technology projects as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach
  • Demonstrated success working in a highly collaborative, matrix environment, with a track record of accomplishments with measurable business impact
  • Strong sense of personal accountability and courage to change how we work
  • Proven aptitude to learn quickly and improve processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and business partners
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SCRUM certification preferred (Including Scrum Master Certification, Product Owner Certification, Scaled & Lean Agile Certifications)
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Understand backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition
  • Experience with Agile tools (JIRA) but would be open to other tools
  • Experience coaching, and coordinating efforts with, multiple teams, Agile coaches and SCRUM masters within a matrixed organization
