About the role
Boston Scientific is seeking an experienced Manager to fill a technical leadership role with responsibility for the Unified Data Platform within the Analytics Center of Excellence. 
This role will provide people, technical and program leadership in the enterprise data lake and data warehouse space. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional IT teams in a “hub and spoke” model to deliver platform DevSecOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) solutions that enable analytics value delivery. 


Job responsibilities:

  • Technical leadership of platform activities for the unified data hub team – with focus on data lake, data warehouse, and AI Farm solutions. 
  • Instills process rigor and continuous improvement to platform management practices, including defining and managing release schedules, CI/CD practices and deployments.
  • Identifies innovative uses of Information Technology to ensure high availability, disaster recovery, monitoring and resilience for the unified data platform.
  • Maintains validated systems in accordance with internal software validation procedures and compliance to external controls such as 21 CFR Part 11, SOX 404, GDPR, etc. 
  • Define, implement, and monitor data security and access control practices to ensure compliance with global privacy & regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in problem management and coordinate delivery of solutions that improve on-going systems support.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholder groups to provide strategic direction and serve as an advocate to promote the benefits of the unified data platform.  Collaborate with enterprise architects to promote and support adherence to reference architecture principles and standards of the enterprise.   
  • May lead a group or team of employees in the achievement of organizational goals.  Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and drive those practices throughout the organization.
  • Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
  • May direct and control the activities and budget of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups, projects/programs and/or operations.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. federal/country and regulatory requirements).


 What we're looking for in you:
Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, related technical degree
  • 8+ years total experience: 3+ years’ experience managing people, 5+ years’ experience in data warehouse or big data related field. 
  • Experience managing program financials, operational budgets, vendor relationships, contracts and negotiations. 
  • Understanding of the full breadth of needs for a solution to be brought to market (infrastructure, QA, UA, security, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to clearly communicate with management, business leaders and senior leadership in both written and oral communication.
  • Understanding of environmental shifts in technology and the impact against products.
  • Able to work on a team in person and in a collaborative virtual setting; self-motivated, self-directed, adaptable.
  • Ability to produce high quality results under tight time constraints


Preferred qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise grade data warehousing implementation projects – both on-cloud and on-premise
  • Experience with Snowflake, AWS EMR and Streamsets, Informatica or similar technologies. 
  • Exposure to consumption patterns with tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Alteryx, etc. 
  • Experience with Waterfall, Agile and DevSecOps SDLC methodologies.
  • Proven experience working in a regulated environment with quality systems which includes strong documentation skills.
