About the role:
Boston Scientific is recruiting for a communications manager, adept interdisciplinary storyteller and trusted strategic advisor who can make meaningful contributions to our business by helping to foster employee engagement across internal stakeholders and channels among a diverse, global IT organization. This position reports into the Corporate Communications team and works directly with the senior vice president and chief Information and digital officer, the chief information officer, the chief of staff and the leadership team, with responsibility for providing strategic communications counsel and execution of integrated communications programming aligned with business objectives.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Sit on relevant IT leadership teams. Serve as consultant and thought partner to IT senior leadership team on messaging and communication strategies to engage internal stakeholders, including a diverse, global workforce.
  • Collaborate within and across the Global Corporate Communications team to share best practices and continuously improve communications across the IT organization and company.
  • Understand business objectives and foster employee engagement in collaboration with key functional leaders, enabling new and effective methods for developing compelling and interactive internal communications that will reach all levels of the function.
  • Evaluate and implement a variety of approaches for cascading and localizing key global messages across the IT function.   
  • Advise on and create written communications, polished presentations, videos and succinct talking points for internal audiences, as well as external-facing thought leadership opportunities, including content for the Boston Scientific website and social media platforms.
  • Provide project management and organizational support including cross functional coordination and vendor management to ensure deliverables are high quality, on time and within budget.
  • Lead global communications strategy and execution for large initiatives and network-wide programs. 
  • Learn, listen, understand and implement the voice of IT leadership and the Boston Scientific brand voice to maintain authenticity and style across all communications.
  • Coordinate and manage the cross-functional review and approval of content with company executives and other applicable leaders

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of relevant internal and external communications, project coordination and content creation within a corporate or agency environment. 
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Microsoft Word and social media tools and channels.
  • Proven ability to work with leadership team and influence with credibility and business acumen on an ongoing basis, leading to successful communications strategies. 
  • Demonstrated success in working closely with executives, experience with providing counsel to and communicating on behalf of senior leaders.
  • Recognized skills for collaborating with global, cross-functional teams at all levels to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Exceptional editing and proofreading capabilities.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Healthcare communications experience is preferred.
  • Strategic with “sleeves rolled up” attitude and ability to balance the big picture with attention to detail on all communications. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Solutions-oriented professional with a creative flare and willingness to propose new ideas and approaches.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to synthesize and translate complex ideas into a digestible format.
  • Understanding of how to communicate differing “calls to action” amongst varying audiences with distinct viewpoints.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, planning and time-management skills. 
  • Bright “quick thinker” and self-starter. 
  • Adept at working in a team environment while also displaying independence, initiative and enterprise; ability to maintain high productivity while balancing competing priorities.
