About the role:
Boston Scientific is looking for a dedicated and passionate storyteller to support our work to advance a healthier, more equitable world. The manager, Global ESG Communications, will collaborate with cross-functional business partners to plan and execute communications that demonstrate the impact of the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance to multiple stakeholders. This position is part of a team supporting the Boston Scientific enterprise ESG strategy and executive thought leadership, and reports to the director, Global ESG and Culture Communications.
This position is a hybrid role, based out of our Headquarters in Marlborough, MA.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate with the ESG team, business leaders and global teams to curate and manage content for the Boston Scientific Performance Report, corporate responsibility website and internal and external ESG campaigns that support the Boston Scientific brand, mission and values.
- Partner with the ESG and Communications teams to amplify the measurable progress of ESG initiatives using various media channels (website, social, intranet etc.).
- Monitor and evaluate best practices on ESG reporting trends to assess needs/gaps, potential areas of differentiation and make recommendations to elevate the company’s storytelling and disclosure practices.
- Collaborate globally to ensure messaging and data consistency, and amplification of global direction.
- Provide support as needed on key ESG initiatives such as environmental commitment initiatives, diversity, equity and inclusion progress, community and other ESG program advances.
- Support the submission of external recognition applications, corporate awards and targeted investor ESG indices such as MSCI, Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, JUST100 and Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
- Work closely with and manage agency partners to support strategic integrated ESG communications.
- Ensure all ESG content is up-to-date and is fully approved by business, legal and regulatory stakeholders.
- Develop ESG reporting KPIs to measure and assess impact of communications in conjunction with other partners.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or equivalent.
- Minimum 5+ years of communications experience on the agency or client side, or direct experience in sustainability, social impact or related communications.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to deliver authentic, strategic and relevant content across different channels and for different audiences.
- Project management experience with exceptional attention to detail, adaptability and a sense of urgency.
- Familiarity with corporate disclosure frameworks, the socially responsible investment community, and relevant environmental and sustainability issues.
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of various reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, CDP, TCFD) and investor-preferred evaluations (e.g., MSCI), as well as regional specific ESG regulatory requirements and ability to proactively provide guidance on evolving trends.
- Ability to work with a high level of independence or collaboratively with a team.
- Experience in developing and implementing omnichannel ESG communications plans and understanding of broad ESG issues.
- Excellent analytical skills, sound judgment and strong collaborative decision-making skills.
- Adept at working in a fast-paced team environment while also displaying independence, initiative and a global mindset.
- Ability to maintain high productivity while balancing competing priorities.
- Ability to synthesize and translate research and findings into strategic recommendations.
