About the role:

Our Research and Development team is all about building the future of the operating room for urologists.  As the industry leader in surgical kidney stone treatment, we are on a mission to empower surgeons to treat more cases, more efficiently, with better outcomes – to help patients in need get back to their daily lives.  As a Capital Systems Manager you will lead a technical team in ongoing capital and systems development programs across multiple disease states.  This key role will provide leadership in both design excellence as well as in world class product development execution in coordination with internal and external partners.  In return for your unique combination of big-picture perspective, ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team, and strong desire to win in the marketplace, you'll be a trusted leader collaborating with some of most dynamic minds in the business.  All in an environment that encourages people to take measured risks, learn from mistakes, and push the boundaries of engineering.       


Your responsibilities include:

  • Manages functional deliverables and ensures technical excellence for product development.
  • Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high-quality staff.
  • Collaboratively determines project staff assignments and schedules work to meet completion dates and R&D deliverables.
  • Provides guidance and approval regarding technical strategies and approaches.
  • Monitors and evaluates project and department progress and results. Leads a team of employees in the achievement of organizational goals.  Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and if applicable, drive those practices throughout their organization.
  • Assists in and/or completes the development of budgets and monitors spending.
  • Works with project managers to understand priorities and plans resource and time allocation accordingly.  Assists in and/or determines appropriate staff levels, schedules and resources.
  • Maintains and enhances cross-functional team relationships.
  • Works cross-functionally in identifying and resolving technical issues.
  • Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. federal/country and regulatory requirements).

What we're looking for in you:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years product development experience in lead roles
  • Electrical, Systems, or Biomedical Engineering degree; Bachelors required, Advanced Degree preferred
  • Systems or capital design and project leadership experience is required; previous experience in medical systems development preferred
  • Significant experience in people development and coaching of engineers to achieve technical excellence in product design and project execution
  • Proven skills in cross-functional collaboration and enabling highly effective project teams
  • Skilled at working across sites and cultures, managing and influencing both technology and people development to meet the needs of a business
  • Ownership and communication of R&D budgets and strong partnership with Program Management, Marketing and Design Assurance
  • Expertise in systems engineering principles and ability to broadly champion a Systems approach
  • Passion for understanding
