About the role:

Boston Scientific is seeking a passionate and innovative Principal Financial Analyst to join our Global Supply Chain finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking individual to make a significant impact by driving budgeting, financial planning, and analysis (FP&A) initiatives. Work Mode:
At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week.
 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

Development of Headcount Planning & Reporting Tool

  • Lead the development and enhancement of a headcount planning tool that integrates with financial systems to track headcount, payroll, and related expenses.
  • Collaborate with HR, operations, and finance teams to capture headcount data, manage forecasting, and ensure accuracy of workforce-related financial metrics.
  • Design and implement reporting dashboards that provide visibility into headcount trends, costs, and any deviations from planned numbers.
  • Regularly maintain and update headcount planning tool to ensure it remains in line with evolving business requirements.

 

Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Develop and manage the budget for sourcing headcount requirements, ensuring alignment with company goals, operational needs, and financial targets.
  • Collaborate with department heads to understand sourcing headcount needs, forecast staffing requirements, and ensure headcount-related expenses are accurately accounted for and in line with budget targets.
  • Analyze and track staffing levels and their financial impact, identifying any gaps between headcount plans and actual performance.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual forecasting, adjusting projections based on changing business conditions.
  • Support the annual standard cost setting process for the Network (particularly Materials & PPV), verifying the data, releasing the standard costs, volume alignments.

 

Financial Analysis & Reporting 

  • Prepare detailed financial reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key trends and opportunities for cost optimization, particularly in the areas of headcount and Purchase Price Variance (PPV).
  • Provide insights into sourcing activities, including evaluating the financial impact of headcount changes, labor cost trends, and any deviations from headcount plans.
  • Analyze PPV, identifying variances between actual and expected purchase prices for goods and services, and working with the procurement team to assess the financial implications and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with business partners to translate financial data related to sourcing activities into actionable insights that can drive more efficient procurement and staffing strategies.

 

Close Activity

  • Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring all financial data is accurately recorded.
  • Prepare financial reports and analysis for management, highlighting key financial performance metrics. 
  • Conduct variance analysis between actual and forecasted performance and assist in preparing reconciliation reports.
  • Create meaningful metrics to monitor business performance. Identify opportunities for metrics and reporting automation, leveraging tools like tableau, power BI, or excel where applicable.

 

Ad Hoc Financial Analysis

  • Assist with special projects, financial models, and other ad hoc analysis as needed.
  • Provide financial data to support key business decisions, including capital investment proposals and operational changes.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years Accounting/ Finance experience, Costing experience desired
  • Very strong financial/data analysis skills; strong ability to problem solve and draw conclusions from data while maintaining data accuracy.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and act in a consultative role.
  • Exceptional organizational & time management skills are crucial.  Environment is fast-paced and multi-tasking is essential.

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com--will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
